India drawn in Group G of the AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers

India find themselves placed in Group G alongside hosts Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan.

The Indian U-17 Women’s team will lock horns with Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. The draw to lock the groupings for the qualifiers was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 7, 2025.

The young tigresses have a tricky job at hand, as they will have to negotiate with the challenge of Kyrgyz Republic, playing in their home conditions, and Uzbekistan.

The qualifying campaign will have a lot at stake for India, as a ticket to the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 is up for grabs. The main tournament is highly anticipated since it has undergone expansion and will see 12 countries taking part for the first time ever.

China will host the tournament, the first of three consecutive editions to be hosted by them in the upcoming years.

India will begin their campaign against the hosts Kyrgyz Republic

The AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers will be held from October 13 to 17, later this year. Group G, where the Indian team has been placed, will be hosted by Kyrgyz Republic, making this a testing away challenge for India.

Their first test will be on October 13 when they take on the hosts, aiming to put the first step in the right direction. The qualifying campaign will culminate for India with their second and last fixture against Uzbekistan on October 17.

Acclimatising to the conditions in Central Asia will be a major chunk of this impending challenge for India. The girls will have to adapt quickly and execute the tactical aspect of the game. Coach Joakim Alexandersson will expect the team to make the mental switch and be prepared for the task before they land in Bishkek.

If India manage to ace this assignment, they will qualify for the main tournament, which will give them an opportunity to contest for one of the four FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup spots. Morocco will host the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2026.

AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers draw

27 teams have been drawn into 8 groups in AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, making this one-round affair an exciting proposition. Philippines, Malaysia, Tajikistan (H), and Syria form Group A. Whereas, Group B has IR Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia (H). Group C consists of Indonesia, Myanmar (H), Mongolia, and Macau.

Group D onwards, there are only 3 teams in each group. Vietnam (H), Hong Kong, China, and Guam are in Group D. Australia are in Group E alongside Singapore (H) and Northern Mariana Islands. Group F has Thailand (H), Nepal, and Turkmenistan. Team India has been drawn with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic (H) in Group G. Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei and Jordan (H) are in Group H.
