India U-17 Women’s Team sit top of Group E

The Young Tigresses beat the Iraq U-17 Women’s team 14-0 in the opening match of Group E in Malaysia for the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers on 5th October, 2026. In the second match for Group E, the hosts Malaysia narrowly managed to beat Syria with a score line of 1-0.

India registered their win by the highest margin since their 12-0 win against Sri Lanka back in 2018 during the SAFF Championships. India’s top goal scorer for the match was Anushka Kumari, who scored 5 goals against Iraq.

Malaysia won their first game as hosts of Group E in the 2027 AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup, by defeating Syria 1-0, courtesy of a 79th minute winner by the substituted Qaseh Riana.

Matchday 1 of the tournament saw India completely overwhelm the Iraq team, whereas the other match in the group remained incredibly close, with both teams getting multiple chances at the goal.

A total of 8 players scored goals for India, with Anushka Kumari bagging 5. The match recorded India’s highest win in an AFC tournament back in 2014 against UAE in the 2015 U-16 2015 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship.

The goal scorers for India were, Anushka Kumari, Thandamoni Baskey, Silky Devi Sorokhaibam, Nira Chanu Longjam, Pritika Barman, Abhista Basnett, Joya Kabul Hasan, Alva Devi Senjam.

Malaysia and Syria ended their match 1-0, with the hosts getting one over Syria in the 79th minute. The game’s only goal was scored by Qaseh Riana who scored from a brilliant cross that came from the left back of the team, Lim You, who crossed the ball from the left side of the pitch.
