India edged past Chinese Taipei scoring 3 goals

The India U-20 women’s football team outclassed Chinese Taipei with a scoreline of 3-1 registering their first win of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 at the Pathum Thani Stadium.

Coming back from two horrible defeats against Japan and Australia conceding 11 goals in total, this match was a must win for the young tigresses to keep their hopes alive for progressing in the next round of the tournament.

Ribansi started this match ahead of Monalisha who previously played in the two games as starter. Ribansi was able to make an instant impact with some great saves in the game especially in the first half of the game, making sure the game stays in India’s control.

Thoibisana looked solid defensively, especially after coming in from the heavy defeats against Japan and Australia. She was able to keep Chinese Taipei’s attack on hold successfully for the majority of the match.

Pooja had a pretty decent outing against Chinese Taipei tonight. Like majority of the players from India, she had the positives and the midfielder looked good with the ball.

Pooja made a good impact on the match and got subbed out at the 85th minute.

The number 10 of India, Sibani almost had a 10/10 performance on the field. She looked the best player out on the field and also managed to get 2 goals to her name one in each half.

The performance was beyond just scoring goals, the Indian forward pushed hard and looked hungry to score for the entirety of the match.

Lhingdeikim 6.5/10

Lhingdeikim did not have the best of the match but was also not bad. The midfielder looked good on the field and also made some impactful play especially in the second half of the match.

She did miss some crucial chances which could have made the scoreline better for India.

Bhumika – 8/10

Bhumika played a crucial role today in the match scoring the first goal for India in a must win match. The midfielder looked very good on the field and surely impacted the match.

The defender looked well on the field and like other Indian defenders, she was able to halt the Chinese Taipei attack positively for a long time.

Anju played very well in the midfield for India and made sure that India keeps the ball while moving forward and also keep things in control against the Chinese Taipei side.

The Indian defender had a good outing against Chinese Taipei especially keeping in mind the performance she had against Japan and Australia. The head coach still trusted her and she did not disappoint at all.

Shruti came in as a substitute in the second half and delivered a decent performance in the back holding the fort for India.

Neha – 6.5/10

The midfielder was subbed in place of Raul in 67th minute and delivered a good performance on the field against Chinese Taipei

The forward came in the 84th minute in place of Pooja and did not actually feature much in the game.
