Revealed: Who has applied to be AIFF Treasurer & EC member

The polls are set to take place on August 28.

On the night of 15th August 2022, the entire nation was celebrating 75 years of India's Independence. Little did anyone know that a dark cloud of misfortune would shower upon AIFF and Indian football.

The long saga of the mess going on at the All India Football Federation (AIFF) came to an unfavorable end. FIFA banned India on the midnight of August 15, 2022, for 'undue influence from third parties and said that it wants an 'independent electoral committee to be elected by the AIFF General Assembly to run the elections of a new Executive Committee'.

Following the Supreme Court’s order of conducting the AIFF elections, the proceedings have already started. Seven candidates have filed their nominations for the AIFF Presidential elections while six and 14 nominations have been received for the post of Treasurer and Executive Board members respectively.

Here are the six members who have filed their nominations for the post of Treasurer:

Kipa Ajay

The honorary Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Federation (AFA) has filed his nomination for the post of treasurer. He is backed by Mulrajsinh Chudasama (Gujarat FA Secretary) and former India international Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

Gopalakrishna Kosaraju

Gopalakrishna currently holds the position of president at the Andhra Pradesh Football Association (VDFA). He was proposed by Lalnghinglova Hmar (Mizoram FA Secretary) and seconded by Vijay Bali (Punjab FA Secretary).

Menla Ethenpa

He is the President of Sikkim’s apex football body – Sikkim Football Association (SFA). Ethenpa is backed by Syed Hasnain Ali Naqvi and Avijit Paul (Odisha FA joint Secretary).

Valanka Natasha Alemao

Valanka is the daughter of former chief minister of Goa, Churchill Alemao. She is proposed by Deepak Sharma (Himachal Pradesh FA Secretary) and seconded by N.A. Haris (Karnataka FA president).

Deepak Sharma

Sharma is currently the General Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association (HPFA). He is supported by Anil Kumar P (Kerala FA Secretary) and Mohan Lal (Chhattisgarh FA Secretary).

Arif Ali

He is currently the secretary of the Uttarakhand State Football Association. Ali is proposed by Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran (Football Delhi President) and seconded by Moraingthem Ratankumar Singh (Manipur FA President).

Here are the 14 members who have filed their nominations for the Executive Committee

Anil Kumar P

Kumar has been the General Secretary of the Kerala Football Association (KFA) for the last 11 years. He is proposed by Dr Shaji Prabhakaran (Football Delhi President) and seconded by Moraingthem Ratankumar Singh (Manipur FA President).

Avijit Paul

Paul is currently serving as the joint secretary of the Football Association of Odisha and the Cuttack District Athletic Association. He is proposed by Anil Kumar P (Kerala FA Secretary) and seconded by Syed Imtiaz Husain (Bihar FA Secretary).

G.P. Palguna

He is the General Secretary of the Telangana State Football Association. Palguna is supported by Avijit Paul (Odisha FA Secretary) and Lalnghinglova Hmar (Mizoram FA Secretary).

Madhu Kumari

Kumari hails from Patna, Bihar and is a former Indian international. She is proposed by the legendary Bhaichung Bhutia (Eminent Player) and Deepak Mondal (Eminent Player).

Vijay Bali

Bali is currently serving as the joint secretary of the Punjab Football Association. He is proposed by Mulrajsinh Chudasama (Gujarat FA Secretary) and seconded by Valanka Natasha Alemao (Churchill Brothers CEO).

Menla Ethenpa

The president of the Sikkim Football Association is proposed by Mohd. Shahid (Uttar Pradesh FA Secretary) and Arif Ali (Uttarakhand FA Secretary).

Lalnghinglova Hmar

Often regarded as the father of Mizo Football, Hmar is also the honorary secretary of the Mizoram Football Association. He is proposed by Mohan Lal (Chhattisgarh FA Secretary) and seconded by Menla Ethenpa (Sikkim FA President).

Valanka Natasha Alemao

Valanka is proposed by Vijay Bali (Punjab FA Secretary) and seconded by Deepak Sharma (Eminent Player).

Syed Imtiaz Husain

Imtiaz is currently serving the post of Association Secretary at the Bihar Football Association. He is proposed by Ajit Banerjee (IFA president) and G.P. Palguna (Telengana Secretary).

Eugueneson Lyngdoh

The former India and Bengaluru FC star has taken up politics and is currently a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. He is proposed by Lalit Chowdhry (Haryana FA Secretary) and seconded by Arif Ali (Uttarakhand FA Secretary).

Mohan Lal

He is the current Association General Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Football Association (CFA). He is proposed by Gopal Krishna Kosaraju (Andhra Pradesh FA President) and Kaif Rabbani.

Deepak Sharma

The General Secretary of the HPFA is proposed by Mohan Lal (Chhattisgarh FA Secretary) and seconded by Menla Ethenpa (Sikkim FA President).

Moraingthem Ratankumar Singh

He is the president of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) until 2023. Ratankumar is proposed by Kipa Ajay (Arunachal Pradesh Secretary) and Eugeneson Lyngdoh (Eminent Player).

Mohd. Shahid

Shahid is the secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh (UPFS). He is proposed by Amit A Khemani (Daman & Diu FA President) and Harjinder Singh (Punjab FA Secretary).
