AIFF SOM Election to take place on November 23 as Rajeev Sharma takes charge
The AIFF Election is scheduled for December 20.
Retired Haryana State Election Commissioner Mr. Rajeev Sharma has formally taken charge as the Electoral Officer ahead of the upcoming AIFF Elections, which is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2026, which also marks that the election code of conduct has come in place in the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Following his appointement, Mr. Sharma has also released the list of Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit (SOM) both men and women for the SOM Election which is scheduled to take place on November 23, 2026.
The list contains 40 names, with 20 names of each category (Men and Women), with four SOMs to be elected to the General Body.

Four SOMs to be elected to AIFF General Body
With 40 names featuring in the list released by Mr. Sharma, only four names will be elected to the AIFF General Body through the AIFF SOM Election which is scheduled for November 23, 2026.
The released list was prepared and finalised with compliance with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, National Sports Governance Rules 2026 and the Bye laws of AIFF.
This means that the four elected SOMs will therefore have voting rights in the AIFF General Body which will take place on December 20, 2026, and also be part of the governance process of the federation.
