The five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil are ready to take on the Indian football team in a friendly match on 3rd October at the VYBK Stadium, Kolkata. The Seleção will also play two friendlies against Australia on 25th and 29th September before coming to India.

This will be the first time that Brazil will play against the Blue Tigers and will most certainly be a mammoth task for the Indian football team to get something positive out of this fixture.

CBF official explains why Brazil chose India

Brazil’s upcoming friendly against Indian carries significance both on and off the field. While the match will for sure serve as an important learning for the Indian football team, it is also a way for the five-time FIFA World Cup champions to thank the overwhelming support from the Indian fans.

Speaking about the fixture, the general executive coordinator of the Brazil men’s national team, Rodrigo Caetano shared his views on why India was chosen as a destination.

Speaking to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), he said, “We are going to face Australia, which qualified in the group stage, was eliminated in the second phase, but showed a very great evolution. Against India, there is the technical issue and a lot of thanks to the Indians, who showed during the World Cup a huge affection and cheering for the Brazilian team. So, nothing fairer than going there as a way of thanks, but also to make a big confrontation”

Carlo Ancelotti shares his views on the friendly

Brazil’s friendly against India, may feature several fresh talented faces, as head coach Carlo Ancelotti said that the fixture will play a key role in shaping the Brazilian team’s future as they gear up to compete in the Copa America 2028 and the FIFA World Cup 2030.

He stated that the three upcoming friendlies against Australia and India will provide an opportunity for the youngsters as they start a new cycle.

“With these three friendlies, we will start the new cycle to project the Seleção in the objectives of the coming years, which are the 2028 Copa America and the 2030 World Cup. We will take advantage of the three friendlies to call up new players for the national team, especially young players, who can show their talent in the national team in the coming years,” said Carlo Ancelotti speaking to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

“The integration with the youth categories and the evaluation of the work in the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-20 are very important. We have to take into account that, four years ago, Rayan played in the U-17, which was a very important player. We have to have a good connection with the U-20, also take advantage of the preparation for the next Olympics, in which many players can, in theory, be in the 2030 World Cup,” he added.
