Where and how to watch Calcutta Football League 2024?
The Kolkata derby of Calcutta Football League will take place on July 13.
The Calcutta Football League (CFL) is among the most coveted regional football tournaments in Indian football and possesses a special place in the hearts of many fans. Having been started way back in 1898, the Calcutta Football League is the oldest league competition in Asia and among the oldest leagues in the entire world.
The Calcutta Football League Premier tier is the top-most of a seven-division structure, with only the best teams from around Kolkata being able to participate in the top division. The 2024 Calcutta Football League, which is the 126th overall season of the division, has been going on for quite a few weeks now. The structure of the current campaign has been slightly tweaked, with 13 teams being separated into two groups.
The top three teams from each of the groups will make it to the championship round after a home-and-away league system. Whichever team wins the championship round after a similar home and away structure against five other teams will reign supreme as the Calcutta Football League winners. The CFL winners will also gain automatic promotion to the 2024-25 I-League 3.
Due to its sheer popularity, the CFL remains one of the rare regional leagues in Indian Football to be regularly broadcast. The majority of the matches, especially those involving heavyweights like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and defending champions Mohammedan Sporting, are all telecast on the Zee 24 Ghanta channel.
Not only are the matches telecast but there are also interactive shows with expert panels before the game, during half-time and for post-game analysis.
Those who prefer to watch on OTT platforms can easily view the matches on the Zee5 application. There is also the opportunity for fans to watch the Calcutta Football League matches for free on YouTube. The Zee 24 Ghanta YouTube channel broadcasts the Calcutta Football League games for free, which is their TV channel being live-streamed on their YouTube channel.
The IFA (Indian Football Association) YouTube channel also telecasts the Calcutta Football League matches. The advantage when it comes to watching on YouTube is fans can easily rewind the stream to get additional replays of goals or missed opportunities.
The matches can also be watched later thanks to the replayability of live videos. The 2024 Calcutta Football League campaign is likely to stretch well into August because of the sheer amount of matches to be played.
East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have been placed in the same group, with the Mariners yet to win any of their matches as the Red & Gold Brigaders have won both their first few matches. They will meet in a Kolkata derby on 13 July, and fans can watch that match either on Zee24 Ghanta or on YouTube.
