Indian football calendar for June 2026: Two friendlies against Tajikistan in the spotlight

Blue Tigers will play two international friendlies against Tajikistan

The month of June is not a month where we usually see a lot of Indian football, as all the leagues in India during this period concludes. From domestic leagues weather it is men’s or women’s league, the month of June is not a running month for any league. As expected, in June 2026, the Indian football calendar is shaped with just a few games.

The Indian Super League 2025-26 season concluded with East Bengal FC getting crowned the champions.

In the IFL 2025-26 season, the newcomers from the I-League 2, who just got their promotion last year, Diamond Harbour FC won the IFL 2025-26 season’s trophy in a very dominant way and gained the automatic promotion to the ISL 2026-27. Delhi FC got their hands on the I-League 2 trophy, and from next year, they will see themselves fighting for the IFL trophy.

On top of that, as the Indian domestic league concludes, in May 2026, the Indian Men’s National Team are playing in the Unity Cup 2026, and the Indian Women’s Football Team are fighting for their sixth SAFF title in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026.

Here, we look at the Indian football schedule for June 2026, including announced matches.

The Indian Men’s National Football Team are set to play two international friendlies against Tajikistan. After the campaign in the Unity Cup 2026, the Blue Tigers will travel to Tajikistan with two games during the FIFA International match window.

Khalid Jamil’s squad will fly from London to Tajikistan as the two games are scheduled to take place on June 5th and June 9th from 20:30 IST at the Hisor Central Stadium, Tajikistan.

The Indian side will look into these two fixtures with extra focus after the Unity Cup, as they just lost to Jamaica in their first game, and are now set to play their next game against Zimbabwe for a third-place finish.

With largely the same squad, India will be aiming to secure positive results in their away friendlies against Tajikistan. However, the visitors have suffered an early blow, with star forward Ryan Williams ruled out due to injury.

The news comes as a setback for Khalid Jamil’s side, as Williams has quickly established himself as a key figure in the team’s attacking setup. His absence will be keenly felt as India prepare for a challenging test on the road.

With valuable game time and experience to offer, this friendly tour holds significant importance for the Blue Tigers moving forward.

The Indian Women’s National Football Team already secured a place in the semifinal of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 after defeating the Maldives in the opening game with a scoreline of 11-0. Their next challenge is a group stage clash against defending champions Bangladesh on May 31.

A win or a draw against Bangladesh would see India finish at the top of their group and face the runners up from the other group in the semifinal.

However, if India finish second, they will take on the group winners from the opposite group. Regardless of the result, India’s semifinal fixture is scheduled to take place on June 3.

If the Blue Tigresses progress ahead of the semifinal, they will play the final, which is set to be played on June 6.

There will also be a major boost for the Indian side, with star forward Manisha Kalyan expected to be available from June 1 once the FIFA Window opens, strengthening the squad ahead of the knockout stage.
