Durand Cup 2025: Jamshedpur FC eye winning start against Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army

Jamshedpur FC will be playing all the matches in their home ground.

Local side Jamshedpur FC will kick-off proceedings of the Jamshedpur leg of the Durand Cup 2025 on July 24th, 2025 when they face Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army FC in a Group C encounter at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 PM after the opening ceremony, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri. Hemant Soren.

The AIFF Super Cup runners-up and the ISL semi-finalists, Jamshedpur FC, will look to start the group stage proceedings with a win against the side from Nepal, who are making their third consecutive appearance in the Durand Cup.

Jamshedpur FC to Open Durand Cup 2025 Campaign at Home

The Red Miners, coached by Khalid Jamil, will look to improve their performance from the last edition where they could not progress beyond the group stages, while Tribhuvan Army will look to give the best account of themselves. The team has not gone beyond the group stages in their previous appearances.

Speaking ahead of the match, Jamshedpur FC Head Coach Khalid Jamil said, “The Durand Cup is very special to me. I’ve played in this tournament, and I know what it means, not just to the players, but to Indian football. It’s the oldest tournament in Asia, with so much history.

As a coach, it’s a proud moment to be part of it again. Tribhuvan Army are not new to this level. They’ve been coming to India for the last few years and always put up a strong fight. They’re a very fit, very disciplined side, typical of Nepalese teams. They play with great intensity, and they’re familiar with Indian football and our players. We have to be sharp. We can’t take them lightly at all. It’s going to be a tough match.”

The Red Miners signed eight new Indian players, including some experienced campaigners like Jayesh Rane, Sarthak Golui, V.P. Suhair, Vincy Baretto, Nishu Kumar, and Germanpreet Singh, and will hope that their new-look side will hit the ground running in the tournament.

Tribhuvan Army Set for Third Consecutive Durand Cup Appearance

Tribhuvan Army FC consists mostly of players who play in the top division of Nepal.

Speaking ahead of the match, Tribhuvan Army FC Head Coach, K.C Meghraj said, “We are playing the tournament for the third consecutive year and this year we feel like we are at our best level. The boys are ready to give it their all tomorrow and we hope to put our best performance in the field against a quality opposition. We are excited and we will show that energy in the field.”

Jamshedpur FC will look to secure all three points which will be crucial to gain momentum as tougher matches wait ahead of them while the Nepal side will look to create an upset at ‘The Furnace’.  

Jamshedpur FC vs Tribhuvan Army FC Live Streaming

The Group C clash between Jamshedpur FC and Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army FC in the Durand Cup 2025 will take place at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on July 24 at 5:30 PM IST.

This much-awaited fixture marks the beginning of the Jamshedpur leg of Asia’s oldest football tournament and will be televised live on the Sony Sports Network (Sony Ten 2 HD). Fans can also stream the match live on SonyLIV.
