Bollywood actor, Tiger Shroff who was all set to play the Durand Cup 2026, will now not feature in the tournament for Mumbay FC as they play their last game of the prestigious tournament after losing their first two games and conceding 10 goals in total as they are now eliminated.
Tiger himself confirmed that he will miss the club’s final game of the tournament which is scheduled for 11th August in Shillong due to work commitments.
Earlier, it was reported that the Bollywood star will travel to Shillong for Mumbay FC’s last group stage game on 11th August and was also registered in their squad for the tournament, raising anticipation among football and neutral fans.
However, in a video shared recently on Mumbay FC’s official Instagram page, Tiger confirmed that he will not be able to part in the tournament due to his work commitments, apologized to the fans and wished everyone all the best for the tournament. This news comes as a major disappointment for many neutral and football fans in India.
Tiger’s message to the fans
Tiger Shroff on Instagram shared the news that he will not be travelling to Shillong for the last group stage game of Mumbay FC in Durand Cup 2026.
He apologized to the fans citing work commitments as the reason for this decision and also shared his best wishes to everyone participating in the tournament.
He also highlighted how Indian football is on the rise with quality youngsters coming up and said that India’s FIFA World Cup dream is not very far.
Tiger Shroff said, “Hi everyone, Tiger Shroff here. Really, really unfortunate, but a work commitment has come up last moment, so I won’t be able to make it to Shillong for the Durand Cup. I was really looking forward to playing for my team Mumbay FC, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it as I said, I just wanted to say that all the very best to everybody out there. The tournament has been amazing so far.”
“I’m going to do everything in my power to support you guys as best of my capability. But there’s so much young talent and with the right support and opportunities, I truly believe Indian football can do wonders. So, until then, I just wanted to wish my team all the very best. Mumbay FC, kill it boys!”
“And keep supporting Indian football everybody. There’s so much talent like I said. I’m sure the day is not far until we reach the World Cup someday. And our national team, especially the younger kids are doing wonders right now. So, all the very best.”
“Congratulations to all the teams who have progressed in the tournament. Looking forward to seeing more action in the Durand Cup. Lots of love and hope to play with you guys very soon,” he concluded with.
