East Bengal beat SC Delhi on penalties to reach final.

East Bengal defeated Sporting Delhi 5-3 on penalties in semifinal 1 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to reach the 2026 Durand Cup final. Rashid kept his cool under pressure and banged the ball into the top left corner to send his team through to the final.

Prabhsukhan Singh Gill was the saviour for East Bengal under the goal post, he saved one penalty in the first half and denied SC Delhi’s Brazilian forward Rodriguinho. Gill was calm and composed in the penalty shoot out as well and saved the first shot of SC Delhi and denied Pena as well.

Heartbreak for SC Delhi, who played incredibly well, managing to thwart East Bengal’s forwards for most of the evening. However, they were punished for not taking their chances after Rodrigunho had a penalty saved in the first half.

Antonio Habas will be relieved, but he is sure to have strong words with his side that seems to have forgotten to bring its shooting boots.

Here are the player ratings for the fixture of East Bengal vs SC Delhi!

Nora Fernandes – 7.5/10

Nora was one of SC Delhi’s most important players on the night. He produced several good saves as East Bengal steadily increased the pressure, including another crucial intervention in added time.

His composure between the posts helped Delhi survive East Bengal’s sustained attacking pressure and take the game to penalties. He was booked during the shootout, but that does little to diminish what was a confident performance over 90 minutes.

Manoj Mohammad – 7/10

Manoj delivered a consistently strong defensive performance. He was reliable throughout the game, dealing with East Bengal’s attacks and maintaining his concentration as the pressure mounted.

His contribution was particularly important given the amount of possession and territory East Bengal enjoyed. One of Delhi’s most dependable defenders on the night.

Gogou – 7/10

Gogou endured a mixed start after giving away a free-kick and later receiving a yellow card, but the captain grew into the contest.

His excellent clearance during an East Bengal counter-attack prevented a dangerous situation from developing, while he also helped create an opportunity at the other end. His defensive contribution in the latter stages was particularly valuable as Delhi fought to force the game into penalties.

Rodriguinho – 7.5/10

Rodriguinho was one of Delhi’s most dangerous attacking outlets throughout the match. He won a penalty after being brought down inside the area, although he was unable to convert from the spot.

He continued to attack with intent in the second half, producing an effort that was dealt with by Anwar and repeatedly looking to take on the East Bengal defence. He later redeemed himself by converting Delhi’s penalty in the shootout.

Duvan Viafara –  7/10

Duvan’s influence became increasingly evident defensively as the match progressed. He was part of a backline that stood firm against East Bengal’s sustained pressure and helped Delhi keep a clean sheet over 90 minutes.

He also converted his penalty confidently in the shootout. A solid and disciplined performance.

Ashutosh Mehta – 7/10

Ashutosh had a nervy start and was guilty of a few fumbling moments defensively, but he improved as the game progressed.

His clearance was an important contribution, and he became increasingly reliable as part of a Delhi defence that ultimately kept East Bengal scoreless over 90 minutes.

Juan Sebastian Peña – 7/10

SC Delhi vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Gill, Rashid & Anwar shine in Durand Cup 2026 Semifinal

Peña was competitive in his duels and showed good physicality during the game. He helped Delhi compete in midfield despite East Bengal controlling much of the possession.

His penalty was saved during the shootout, but that should be considered separately from his 90-minute performance.

Lalrinliana Hnamte – 6.5/10

Hnamte worked hard to open up spaces and provide options for Delhi going forward. His movement helped create opportunities even though Delhi struggled to consistently turn their attacking spells into clear chances.

A committed performance without quite enough end product.

Md Azhar – 6.5/10

Azhar showed plenty of intent in midfield during the opening half, trying to make things happen and contribute to Delhi’s build-up.

However, his influence was somewhat limited as East Bengal gained control of possession. His yellow card for pulling an opponent’s shirt was another negative and meant he had to manage himself carefully thereafter.

Tomba – 6/10

Tomba put in a functional shift without producing many standout moments. He contributed to Delhi’s overall defensive effort as the team absorbed pressure but was unable to make a major impact going forward.

Joseph Sunny – 6/10

SC Delhi vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Gill, Rashid & Anwar shine in Durand Cup 2026 Semifinal

Joseph had a relatively quiet outing and struggled to exert much influence before being replaced by Aimen in the 70th minute.

His work rate was useful, but Delhi looked more threatening after the substitution.

Substitutes

Sourav K – 6.5/10

Sourav showed plenty of willingness to get involved and kept trying to make something happen.

His early efforts had little reward, but he eventually found himself in a promising position and took his chance, only to see the attempt go without a goal. His persistence was a positive point, even if the end product was missing.

Md Aimen –  7/10

Aimen made an immediate impact after replacing Joseph in the 70th minute. He brought energy to Delhi’s attack, helped create chances and gave the side greater attacking impetus in the closing stages.

He also held his nerve to convert his penalty in the shootout.

Prabhsukhan Singh Gill was once again calm and composed under the goalpost. He saved one penalty in the first half and denied SC Delhi’s Brazilian forward Rodriguinho from scoring.

Anwar Ali managed his defensive responsibilities well, rarely allowing his SC Delhi markers time or space, and chose his moments to support the attacks carefully, along with his defensive duties.

He also scored his penalty in the shootout.

Sandip Mandi – 7/10

He was also responsible for the penalty but SC Delhi were unable score from the spot. But other than that he was quite god in patches.

In the later half of the game, he managed his defensive duties well to rectify his previous mistakes of the game.

Jay Gupta – 6/10

Jay Gupta was functional in attack and disciplined as well. He kept the left flank under control and often kept possession, contributing to the team’s overall structure. But and did not play to his potential.

SC Delhi vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Gill, Rashid & Anwar shine in Durand Cup 2026 Semifinal

Rashid was East Bengal’s most effective player on the field and once again proved why he is the best recruit for East Bengal in the midfield in the recent past.

The captain was leading from the front, he was denied twice by the frame of the goal. Rashid kept his cool under pressure and banged the ball into the top left corner to send his team through to the final.

Throughout the match, he remained a constant threat with his intelligent movement and positioning, often finding chances.

Edmund was quick on the flank and attempted to break the SC Delhi defence. He made several forward runs and helped during transitions.

However, his final delivery and decision-making in key moments fell short. He was substituted later on by Chris Ikonomidis.

Bipin Singh Thounaojam – 6/10

SC Delhi vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Gill, Rashid & Anwar shine in Durand Cup 2026 Semifinal

Bipin Singh was involved in quite a few opportunities but couldn’t capitalise on those chances.

Chris Ikonomidis – 5/10

Chris Ikonomidis is not fully match-fit but was doing his duties in the wings and made a good assist through which David was unable to score.

But if he gets more match time, Ikonomidis can be a vital asset for the Red and Gold Brigade in the upcoming days. He scored one in the penalty shootout as well.

He was active after coming on to the pitch but missed out on scoring from an easy chance. He was calm and composed and did his duties as instructed by his head coach.
