'Finally some good news': Fans react as FC Goa beat Al Seeb to claim ACL 2 berth

FC Goa clinch an ACL 2 group stage spot with a 2-1 win against Al-Seeb.

In a much-needed boost for Indian football, FC Goa lit up the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda with a thrilling 2-1 win over Oman’s Al-Seeb, securing their long-awaited return to the AFC Champions League Two group stage.

At a time when the mood around Indian football has been gloomy, this gritty victory gave fans something to cheer about, filling the stands and social media feeds with joy and pride.

Riding high on confidence after their Super Cup triumph in May, FC Goa made the most of their home advantage on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The Gaurs are finally back in the Asian stage, a feat they last achieved in 2021.

Dejan Drazic opened the scoring just before half-time, while Javier Siverio doubled the lead early in the second half. Although Al-Seeb’s Alrawahi pulled one back, FC Goa’s resolute defence stood firm to seal a historic night for the club and the country.
