Top 3 Al Seeb players to watch out for against FC Goa in ACL 2 encounter

Al Seeb and FC Goa will lock horns on August 13 at Fatorda for a spot in the group stage of ACL 2.

The formidable club from Oman, Al Seeb, will be touching down in India, intending to brush aside FC Goa and confirm their place in the ACL 2 group stage. The two clubs will clash against each other on August 13 at the home of FC Goa, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Fatorda).

The stakes are riding high as this is a must-win affair. The victorious side will progress to the group stage, whereas the side on the losing side will crash and drop down to the AFC Challenge League.

Both clubs are coming on the back of an impressive cup competition campaign. Al Seeb made their way to the final of Oman’s premier cup competition, the Oman Super Cup. However, they failed to cross the final hurdle, losing in the penalties in a thrilling contest.

FC Goa have been flying high recently with a spectacular outing in the Kalinga Super Cup, winning the competition after six years. The Gaurs edged Khalid-Jamil-led Jamshedpur FC in the final. Their Super Cup victory confirmed their place in the ACL 2 preliminary round. Moving ahead, we will look at their rivals and see which three players the Gaurs should be wary of.

Abdul Aziz Al-Muqbali

The 35-year-old veteran Omani centre-forward will have eyeballs on him as he lands in India. With heaps of experience and knife-sharp goalscoring instincts, Muqbali will lead his team in the do-or-die fixture. The 2024-25 season was rewarding for him as he ended up with 10 goals and 4 assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.

He has been at the club for quite some time and knows how the setup functions under Nikola Djurovic. It will be interesting to see what combination the Al Seeb manager goes with. If he chooses to go with two strikers up front, Muqbali’s partnership with Abu Kamara will be a lethal prospect.

Salah Al-Yahyaei

Salah Al-Yahyaei actually has the experience of playing in the AFC Champions League Two, having played in the tournament with Al-Khaldiya FC in the 2024-25 season. He made six appearances in the competition last season, providing two assists as well. Al-Yahyaei has only made four appearances for Al-Seeb so far, but has already scored a goal and provided one assist in that short period.

The 26-year-old will look to torment the FC Goa backline with his clever off-the-ball runs and dribbling ability. He will be aiming to dart into the danger areas and lose the mark of the opposition players to finish off chances ruthlessly and give his side an edge in this upcoming clash.

Abu Kamara

The star striker from Liberia will be the main man for Oman’s Al Seeb. He has been in sublime form for the last few months. His goal-scoring output is something that FC Goa will have to keep a check on. Abu Kamara recently signed for Al Seeb, and since his arrival, he has been at the forefront of the attack for the Omani club.

In 10 appearances that he has made for the club, Kamara has found the net on nine occasions, besides providing a couple of assists. His presence in the box will put the FC Goa defence, led by Sandesh Jhingan, in trouble. If Kamara is let loose, he can wreak havoc, pushing the Goan defence to the edge.

The AFC Champions League Two playoff between FC Goa and Al Seeb will be streamed exclusively on the official Khel Now YouTube Channel – Khel Now TV. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 pm on August 13th, 2025.
