The Gaurs will look to grab three points and disappoint NorthEast United FC.
The Indian Super League (ISL) action returns to the Fatorda Stadium as FC Goa are set to take on Northeast United FC on 4 October. This will be the last match for both sides before they head into a break during the FIFA International window.
FC Goa are high on confidence after a hard-fought 3-2 win against East Bengal a few days ago while Northeast United FC heads into the match after drawing their previous home game against Kerala Blasters FC with a 1-1 scoreline, where one of their key players Asheer Akhtar received a red card. However, to their misfortune, the decision was overturned after an appeal was filed by the Highlanders to the AIFF Disciplinary Committee.
FC Goa and the Highlanders have been facing off against each other since the inception of ISL in 2014. Previously they have faced each other 20 times in ISL and once in the Durand Cup with six games going in Goa’s favour while Northeast won four. And interestingly, 11 of their clashes ended in draws.
Both teams currently find themselves in the middle of the ISL points table with 4 points each after 3 games. If we look at this tie historically, FC Goa have got the better of the Highlanders on most occasions but a lot of things have changed now for the Highlanders.
They recently won the prestigious Durand Cup by defeating Mohun Bagan on penalties in the final. They have also managed to build a formidable unit for this season with several quality signings and will be hoping to put up a strong show against Manolo’s side on Friday.
