The game ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Gaurs.

FC Istiklol claimed a dominant 2-0 victory over FC Goa at the Hisor Central Stadium tonight on 01st October 2025, a huge blow to the Gaurs’ aspirations of progressing to the knockouts in the AFC Champions League 2.

While Istiklol showcased consistency and tactical skills on their home ground, FC Goa’s performance fell short of expectations as they could not make any inroads. The Gaurs were struggling to break down Istiklol’s defense, failing to capitalize on key opportunities. The hosts dictated the game and ended up with three comfortable points at their home.

Here are the player ratings for the game :

FC Goa Player Ratings

Hrithik Tiwari (GK): 6/10

A quiet game for the young goalkeeper, who didn’t have much action for the majority of the match. Istiklol struggled to create clear-cut chances initially. He was alert when needed, making three comfortable saves, two of which were routine. But as the game progressed, Hrithik conceded two goals.

Sandesh Jhingan: 7/10

Jhingan was a rock at the heart of the defense for the Gaurs. He led the backline well, reading the game impressively and stepping in with important clearances whenever needed. His leadership was evident throughout the game. Sandesh constantly organized the defense line, setting the offside trap smartly and maintaining composure under pressure.

Aakash Sangwan: 6.5/10

Aakash Sangwan showed good intent throughout, especially in trying to win back possession and making a few well-timed clearances under pressure. His throw-ins were also useful. The left-back also put some teasing crosses into the box. However, he was occasionally caught out of position, leaving space behind on his flank. His recovery runs lacked urgency.

Pol Moreno: 6.5/10

He formed a strong central partnership with Jhingan and looked composed. More read the game well, coming in with key interceptions and showing calmness under pressure, barring a few instances. His positional awareness was good, and he matched Istiklol’s physicality when needed.

Boris Singh Thangjam: 5/10

Boris had a tough outing against Istiklol. He struggled to match Istiklol’s physicality. The right-back tried to support Borja in buildup play but was often overrun or wasn’t able to gain control easily.

David Timor: 5.5/10

David Timor delivered an average performance against the Tajik champions. The Spaniard was unable to dictate the play in the midfield, making it easy for Istiklol to move the ball around. His passing was reliable but could not disrupt the progressive play of the opposition.

Ayush Chhetri: 5.5/10

The double pivot of Ayush Chhetri and David Timor was one of the weakest links for the Gaurs. Similar to Timor, Ayush struggled to make a real impact on the game. He was unable to win possession or disrupt Istiklol’s rhythm. Even his positioning in the field was unimpressive.

Brison Fernandes: 5.5/10

Brison put in an average shift without making any major mistakes or making any contributions. He was defensively solid at times, but didn’t offer much going forward. He showed glimpses of potential but lacked consistency throughout the match.

Javier Siverio: 6/10

He worked hard to win fouls and disrupt Istiklol’s defense, showing good movement off the ball. However, he struggled to make the most of his chances in front of goal failing to convert chances. His effort was clear, but a lack of clinical finishing limited his overall impact.

Borja Herrera: 7/10

Borja operated as the playmaker with clever passes and intelligent gameplay. Alongside Drazic, he was a part of the attack, creating chances and linking up play. He could have been a bit sharper in the final delivery. But he was a constant threat and kept trying to find ways to break the opposition defense.

Dejan Drazic: 7.5/10

The standout performer for FC Goa was Drazic, who was a constant threat. His direct runs and clever movement kept Istiklol’s defense on their toes throughout the game. He constantly looked to create chances, linking up well with teammates and showing good awareness in the final third.

Substitutions

Abdul Rabeeh: 6/10

Rabeeh was introduced in the second half. He injected some much-needed energy with his pace and made a few runs down the flank. However, beyond his speed, he offered very little in terms of creating chances

Udanta Singh: 6/10

Udanta was brought on to add some pace in the second half. He couldn’t consistently create real danger or break down the opposition defense, but had a few good runs. A solid effort as a substitute, but his influence was limited.

Harsh Patre: N.A.

Came on in the latter stages of the game but didn’t have enough time to influence the outcome.

Muhammed Nemil: N.A.

The youngster did not have enough minutes to make any impact on the game.

When will FC Goa play their next match in the AFC Champions League 2?

The Gaurs will host Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr on October 22 at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa.

Who scored the goals for Istiklol?

Rustom Soirov and Reza Dehghani were the two goalscorers for Istiklol against FC Goa.
