The Blue Tigresses will be playing two friendly games against the Central Asian nation.

India senior women’s football team will be playing Central Asian national Uzbekistan in two friendly games on May 30 and June 3. The games provide the Blue Tigresses’ head coach, Crispin Chettri, an opportunity to analyse the quality of players at his disposal.

The visitors will also be keen to test their mettle against India, with two games to maintain match fitness. While it is an international friendly, the two sides will be looking to put on a show for their fans.

The Blue Tigresses enter this upcoming on the back of two defeats in international friendlies against South Korea and Russia. However, Crispin Chettri’s women have also won three of their last five games in recent games.

While Uzbekistan is sure to present a challenge for the Blue Tigresses, the motivation will be to get their first win against the Central Asian nation in head-to-head competition.

Chanu will be the player to watch in this upcoming fixture as she will be the last line of defence against a potent Uzbekistan attack. The 29-year-old has been a great servant for India and will be once again called upon on Thursday against Uzbekistan.

She also won the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award at the AIFF Awards after a stunning season between the sticks with East Bengal FC who won the league title with an eight-point cushion.

Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva (Uzbekistan)

Khabibullaeva will be the danger man for Indian defenders to deal with in the upcoming international friendly. The Uzbek forward scored two goals in their losing effort in a 3-4 loss to Zambia Women.

The Uzbekistan attack will be relying on Khabibullaeva’s brilliance to get a winning result against the Blue Tigresses.
