Top five biggest wins by the Indian women's football team

Maldives have suffered the most at the hands of the Indian women’s football team.

The Indian women’s football team has produced some truly commanding performances over the years, racking up emphatic wins that reflect both skill and spirit. These matches have not only boosted team morale but also showcased the growing presence of women’s football in the nation.

From double-digit score lines to clean sheets against regional rivals, these victories stand out as milestones in the team’s journey. In this article, we take a closer look at the five biggest wins in the history of Indian women’s football – games where the Blue Tigresses roared the loudest.

India 18-0 Bhutan (13th December 2010)

The SAFF Women’s Championship 2010 witnessed the biggest win in the history of the Indian women’s football team. The Blue Tigresses mauled Bhutan 18-0 in the Group A match at Cox’s Bazar Stadium in Bangladesh after going into halftime with a 10-0 lead.

Sasmita Malik starred with seven goals while Bala Devi and Tababi Devi scored five and four goals respectively in the tournament opener. India would eventually go on to win the SAFF Championship by beating Nepal in the final.

India 15-0 Maldives (14th September 2014)

The Incheon Asian Games in 2014 saw a dominant display by the Indian women’s football team against the Maldives. Playing at the Namdong Stadium, India won 15-0 as Sasmita Malik and Kamala Devi scored five goals apiece in a dominant display.

This, however, was the only silver lining for Indian women in the Asian Games as they lost their next two games 10-0 to South Korea and Thailand, hence being eliminated from the tournament.

The Maldives has always been one of the teams against which the Indian women’s football team have been comfortable against and this proved to be true once again in this friendly encounter. Playing in Bengaluru, the Indian women’s football team registered a dominant 14-0 win against their South Asian rivals.

Lynda Kom displayed her brilliance with a memorable performance, and Pyari Xaxa supported her with a hat-trick under the Swedish coach, Joakim Alexandersson. The Blue Tigresses pulled out an 11-1 win when the two sides played another friendly three days later.

India 13-0 Mongolia (23rd June 2025)

The latest addition to this list came earlier this week as the Indian women put up an undeterred show against Mongolia. Playing in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, India beat Mongolia 13-0 at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Thailand.

Pyari Xaxa stole the show with five goals, whereas Soumya Guguloth and Priyadharshini Selladurai scored a brace each. With games against Timor-Leste, Iraq, and Thailand set to come in thick and fast, the Blue Tigresses will have to keep up with the pace to make it to the Women’s Asian Cup.

India 12-0 Afghanistan (17th November 2014)

After beating the Maldives 8-0 earlier in the tournament, the Blue Tigresses did one better in the final group game of the 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship. Playing at the Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan, the Indian women’s team beat Afghanistan 12-0 en route to winning the competition once again.

Bala Devi scored five goals while Indumathi and Prameshowri Devi chipped in with a hat-trick each to lead their side comfortably into the semifinal.
