Former Bengaluru FC coach Gerard Zaragoza joins Super League Greece club Panserraikos FC as head coach

Zaragoza left Bengaluru FC recently amid the ISL uncertainty.
The former Bengaluru FC manager, Gerard Zaragoza, has been appointed as the head coach of the Super League Greece club Panserraikos FC. The Spanish tactician recently quit his managerial duties at Bengaluru FC. The decision was made due to the ongoing crisis in Indian Football over the future of the Indian Super League (ISL).
The failure to attract any bids for the commercial rights of the ISL has caused panic in the Indian Football ecosystem, where the clubs have halted the player and staff salaries. This chaos can cause further departures with no imminent solution.
Zaragoza as Bengaluru gaffer

Gerard Zaragoza was at the helm of Bengaluru FC for almost two years, where he was in charge of the club in 48 matches. The former Indian Super League champions won 22 of those matches and drew 8. In the remaining 18, Zaragoza could not take his team across the finishing line.
In his first season as the BFC head coach, Zaragoza failed to deliver results. The club finished in the 10th position as they could register a win only on five occasions. But the next season saw Bengaluru FC making a strong comeback.
In the initial phase of the season, BFC achieved consistent results, which enabled them to finish in the top four at the end of the league season. In the knockouts, Bengaluru lost to FC Goa, failing to make their way into the summit clash.
This was not the first stint of Gerard Zaragoza in Bengaluru. He also served as the assistant manager for almost a year in the 2018/19 season.

Second stint at Panserraikos FC
Gerard Zaragoza finds himself in familiar surroundings. He has rejoined Panserraikos FC after his first stint at the Greek club in the 2021/22 season. The Spaniard could not achieve much success in his first stint, forcing his move out of the club after just 12 matches at the helm.
Panserraikos FC are struggling in the current season, having won only one out of the ten games. With five points in their bag, they are struggling at the bottom of the points table. Zaragoza would be determined to change the fortunes and make his second stint at Panserraikos a resounding success.
