Gujarat Super League 2024: Surat Strikers vs Gandhinagar Giants Live
The Gujarat Super League (GSL) 2024 kicked off on May 1st and will run until May 12th in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Organized by the Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA), this league represents the first franchise-based football competition in the state.
Six teams will participate in the inaugural GSL season: Ahmedabad Avengers, Gandhinagar Giants, Karnavati Knights, Saurashtra Spartans, Surat Strikers, and Vadodara Warriors. The tournament will feature a single round-robin format where each team plays against the other five once. The top two teams at the conclusion of the league stage will compete in the GSL final on May 12th.
All matches will take place at the EKA Arena, TransStadia in Ahmedabad. The GSL aims to elevate football’s popularity in Gujarat and strengthen the sport across the state. The league is not only a sporting event but also an opportunity to promote tourism and showcase Gujarat’s passion for football. The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and the Sports Authority of Gujarat are key sponsors supporting this initiative.
The GSL teams selected players through a draft system involving 250 players from Gujarat and 36 players from 10 other states. These players bring with them experience from various national and state-level tournaments, enriching the competition’s quality and diversity.
This league promises to be an exciting showcase of football talent and a significant step forward for football development in Gujarat.
