I-League 3: AIFF announces teams for upcoming 2024-25 season
Sporting Clube de Goa were crowned champions in I-League 3 2023-24.
The League Committee of All India Football Federation (AIFF) have officially announced the teams approved for participation in the upcoming 2024-25 I-League 3 season.
The I-League 3 serves as the fourth tier of the Indian football league system, providing a competitive platform for teams across the nation.
This league primarily consists of successful teams from various State leagues, which are nominated by their respective State associations.
These nominations follow the completion of their state leagues and adherence to the AIFF’s criteria for participation, ensuring that only the most deserving teams are included. The AIFF had circulated these criteria in March.
The teams already confirmed for the I-League 3 2024-25 season include Maharashtra Oranje FC and Kenkre FC, both of which were relegated from the I-League 2 in the 2023-24 season. Additionally, Klasa and Kerala United FC have been included due to their participation in the I-League 3 2023-24 playoffs.
Maharashtra Oranje FC and Kenkre FC bring with them a wealth of experience from their stint in the I-League 2, while Klasa and Kerala United FC have shown promise in the play-offs and this makes them strong contenders for the upcoming season.
The All Manipur Football Association had nominated two teams for the I-League 3. However, the AIFF League Committee has instructed them to select and nominate only a single team from their state. This directive aligns with the AIFF’s guidelines to maintain a balanced and competitive league structure and ensure that each state is represented fairly and adequately.
The newly approved teams by the AIFF League Committee for the 2024-25 I-League 3 Season are:
- 1) Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC – Assam Football Association
- 2) Garhwal FC – Football Delhi
- 3) Charutar Vidya Mandal Football Club – Gujarat State Football Association
- 4) Sesa Football Academy – Goa Football Association
- 5) Bhuna FC – Haryana Football Association
- 6) Diamond Harbour – Indian Football Association
- 7) HAL Sports Club – Karnataka State Football Association
- 8) Sports Academy Tirur – Kerala Football Association
- 9) Lake City FC – Madhya Pradesh Football Association
- 10) Chanmari FC – Mizoram Football Association
- 11) Football Association of Odisha – Sports Odisha
- 12) Dalbir Sports Academy – Punjab FA
- 13) Jaipur Elite FC – Rajasthan Football Association
- 14) Ghaziabad City FC – Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh
- 15) MYJ-GMSC – Western India Football Association
