I-League 3 Playoffs: Group B fixtures see SAT Tirur, Chanmari FC win opening games

The sides from Kerala and Mizoram won with an almost equal margin.
SAT Tirur, Kerala, kicked off their I-League 3 Play-Off campaign with a 3-1 victory over MYJ-GMSC, Maharashtra, in their Group B opener at Kalyani Stadium on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Arshad P’s right-footed strike into the far post gave Tirur a crucial 1-0 lead going into halftime. In the second half, GMSC’s Himanshu Patil leveled the score in the 79th minute, finishing from inside the box after a superb cross from substitute Manuel D’souza on the right flank.
However, it was substitute Mohammed Yasin V N who turned the game around for SAT Tirur with a dramatic late brace, scoring in the 90+2nd and 90+5th minutes to secure the win.
In the other Group B match, Chanmari FC from Mizoram made short work of Punjab’s Dalbir Football Academy with a convincing 3-0 win. Lalkhawpuimawia opened the scoring in the 12th minute, calmly slotting the ball home after receiving a precise cross from Vincent Lalduhawma on the left.
Lalduhawma himself added two more goals in the second half, netting in the 52nd and 69th minutes to seal the victory for Chanmari FC.
