Namdhari FC now move to the fifth spot in I-League 2024-25 after the points deduction.

Inter Kashi have been awarded three crucial points and a +3 goal difference in I-League 2024-25 following a successful appeal against Namdhari FC. The decision comes after Namdhari FC fielded a suspended player in their match against Inter Kashi which was played on January 13th, 2025.

“The AIFF Disciplinary Committee has decided to dock three points off Namdhari FC for fielding an ineligible player in Match 45 of the I-League 2024-25 against Inter Kashi, played on January 13, 2025, in accordance with Article 12.3.2 of the I-League 2024-25 Regulations. The said match shall result in a forfeiture (0-3 loss) for Namdhari FC in accordance with Article 57 read with Article 26 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code,” the statement from AIFF read.

Why were Namdhari slapped with the disciplinary sanction?

This issue had arose due to the improper inclusion of, Carvalho Da Silva (DE GOL), in their match on January 13, 2025 against Inter Kashi FC. Carvalho Da Silva’s suspension resulted from the accumulation of four yellow cards.

He received yellow cards in Namdhari’s opening match against Delhi Football Club, followed by another yellow against Dempo SC, and culminated in two yellow cards in their home encounter with Real Kashmir, which led to a subsequent red card.

Consequently, Carvalho Da Silva served a mandatory one-match suspension during Namdhari FC’s clash with SC Bengaluru. However, despite this suspension, he was included in the lineup for Namdhari’s match against Inter Kashi directly violating the regulations.

The 2024-25 I-League title race has become even more intense following recent results. Inter Kashi, previously in fourth place with 28 points, have surged to second, now just one point behind league leaders Churchill Brothers with a game in hand. Meanwhile, Namdhari, who had been holding the second position with 26 points, have slipped down to fifth with 23 points, shaking up the standings significantly.
