How can Inter Kashi win the 2024-25 I-League title?

The Kashi Warriors are currently sitting fourth in the I-League standings.

I-League club Inter Kashi have had a relatively successful 2024-25 campaign but still find themselves three points away from the league leaders Churchill Brothers SC. The Kashi Warriors still remain an outside favorite for the I-League title, however, their contention is dependent on factors outside the field.

The club holds a solid record this season in the I-League, having won 10 of their 21 league games, drawing six times and losing five games. While averaging 1.67 points per game, Inter Kashi still holds a slender chance of winning the title but have to first get the better of Rajasthan United FC.

Inter Kashi have put on impressive performances

The club have been on a roll this season with nearly a month passing since their last loss in league game coming in a 1-3 loss against Real Kashmir FC. Inter Kashi FC have lost only once in their last five games and won twice and drawn twice during that run of games.

The club has seen consistency under head coach Antonio López Habas, who has plenty of experience of coaching in India. The contributions of new-signing Nikola Stojanovic cannot be understated having scored 11 goals in 24 I-League games this season.

Rajasthan United FC can prove to be a tricky test

The club will be facing fifth-placed Rajasthan United FC, who they haven’t been able to beat this season. In the reverse fixture at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium, Kashi only managed to secure a 1-1 draw due to Martand Raina’s late Equalizer cancelling our Bidyashagar Singh.

The club will be welcoming Rajasthan at the Ekana Arena on Sunday, hoping to get the vital three points they need to stay in title contention. While a win over Inter Kashi could propel Rajasthan to the fourth spot, a win with three or more goals could potentially see them leapfrog Real Kashmir FC to third depending on other results.

Can Inter Kashi win the league title?

While mathematically Inter Kashi cannot win the league title even if they beat Rajasthan, however, a successful appeal for the result of their game against Namdhari FC can see them finish with 42 points. Depending on if the encounters involving Churchill Brothers SC and Gokulam Kerala FC ends in a draws, Inter Kashi can win the title.

While it will require a humongous amount of good fortune and performance, coach Habas will be focussed on his team ahead of the final game on Sunday.
