I-League 2024-25: Updated Points Table, most goals, and most assists after Aizawl FC vs Namdhari FC

Aizawl FC pull off the greatest escape on the last day of the I-League season.
The final match week of the 2024-25 I-League season once again delivered some shock and decisive results. With only a handful of clubs now left with their respective games this week, the match week has lived up to the billing.
Saturday’s match week began with Shillong Lajong FC welcoming Delhi FC at the SSA Stadium. While the result of the game was of no use for the visitors who can’t avoid relegation, the 0-0 draw result has provisionally handed teh home side a seventh place finish.
The second game of the weekend saw Sreenidi Deccan FC welcome SC Bengaluru at the Deccan Arena. SC Bengaluru needed a win to ensure they had any sort of fighting chance of avoiding relegation this season. The visitors had the worst possible start after David Castañeda Munoz gave them the lead in the 47th minute.
While the visitors responded in the 67th minute with Ishaan Raghunanda, Munoz again restored the home side’s lead in the 86th minute. However, the visitors weren’t going to go down without a fight and secured a 2-2 draw through Shanid Valan, which ultimately proved to be not enough to avoid relegation this season.

The final game from the weekend witnessed fellow relegation strugglers Aizawl FC welcome Namdhari FC to the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The home side needed to win all three points this season in order to ensure their safety in the division.
The game began perfectly for the home side as striker Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia gave them the lead in the 13th minute. Confidence grew further when fortune favoured the home side after Moro Lamine scored an own goal in the 41st minute. The home side assured themselves all three points after Lalbiaknia scored his second of the game in the 50th minute.
A significant result for Aizawl FC, who showcased great trust and reliance on young Indian talent to ensure I-League football for next season. The match week 22 rescue act highlights how clubs can still perform with Indian players and don’t have to rely on foreign talent for winning games.
