Gokulam Kerala FC are gonna take Churchill Brothers SC all the way in the I-League title race this season.
Match week 21 of the I-League once again delivered notable results. The clubs are now left with one more match week before the end of the regular season. Friday’s match week began with Rajasthan United FC welcoming Delhi FC at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium.
A game of no significance for Delhi FC, who will be playing in I-League 2 next season, saw the visitors lose 3-1 courtesy of goals from Bektur Amangeldiev (45+4′), Maicol Cabrera (52′), and Martand Raina (84′).
Saturday’s games witnessed Dempo SC welcome high-flying Real Kashmir FC to the Dempo Academy Ground in a game of immense significance for the visitors. Kashmir needed the maximum points from their game to stay in contention for the I-League crown. However, a 1-1 draw against Dempo SC has all but ended their title aspirations as they now rely on other results for a chance at the crown.
The final game from Saturday saw Shillong Lajong FC welcome Aizawl FC in the Northeast Derby with a positive result essential for Aizawl to stay in the division and avoid relegation. However, the game was a roller coaster ride for both the home and traveling fans as the two teams played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in a thrilling game. The point helped Aizawl live to fight for another match as the relegation battle changed complexion with each passing week.
