Inter Kashi have drawn level on points with league leaders Churchill Brothers SC.

The matchweek 20 of the I-League didn’t see a single 0-0 game, as the clubs head into the home stretch of the 2024-25 season. Saturday’s matchweek began with Delhi FC welcoming Real Kashmir FC at the Mahilpur Football Stadium.

The game which ended 1-2 as the visitors struck twice in the first half before Delhi scored a consolation early in the second half. The win takes Kashmir within three points of the league leaders as we head into the final two matchweeks of the season.

The second game on Saturday witnessed SC Bengaluru welcome Gokulam Kerala FC in a must-win game for both sides. With Bengaluru only one point away from the relegation zone and Gokulam looking to maintain their title aspirations, the game promised to be a high-stakes affair.

All the goals from the game were scored in the second half as Gokulam Kerala FC walked away 1-2 victors at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Goals from Thabiso Brown (46′) and Adama Niane (75′) were enough for the visitors to secure all three points.

Sunday’s fixtures began with Rajasthan United FC welcoming Namdhari FC to the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in the middle of the pack clash. A win for Rajasthan would have ensured some breathing room from the chasing pack, while a win for Namdhari would have seen the club leapfrog their opponents ahead of match week 21.

Two first-half strikes from Seiminmang Manchong (40′) and Alain Oyarzun (45+5′) were enough for Rajasthan to see off any Namdhari comeback. While Namdhari scored a consolation goal through Vicente (54′), but Rajasthan expertly held off any comeback scenarios.

The second game on Sunday witnessed Churchill Brothers SC taking on Sreenidi Deccan FC in Goa. The home side started the game brightly and looked the likeliest to score the opener. Churchill opened the scoring through Pape Gassama (29′) as he latched on to Wayde Lekay’s pass for the opener.

However, disaster struck for the home side after Sreenidi got a penalty late in stoppage time, which was dispatched by J. Castañeda Munoz for his 15th goal of the season. The point leaves the league-leaders extremely reliant on their superior goal difference with two matchweeks remaining.

Monday’s matchweek began with Dempo SC taking on struggling Aizawl FC in a game of immense significance for the visitors. It was the home side that romped home with a 5-2 win over the visitors courtesy of a wonderful hattrick from Marcus Joseph (26′, 75′, 90+6′) and goals from Puthvesh Pednekar and VV Harji.

The result makes survival a difficult task for Aizawl who have to win all their remaining games and hope SC Bengaluru drop points in the final two matchweeks. The final game on Monday witnessed Inter Kashi welcome Shillong Lajong FC in a vital clash to draw level on points with league leaders, Churchill Brothers SC.

The home side managed to secure a key 2-1 win courtesy of two first-half strikes from Nikola Stojanovic (33′) and Mario Barco (39′) which were enough to secure all three points. A game which also saw a late consolation from the visitors through Batskhemlang Thangkhiew (78′), the win will be crucial as Kashi look to drag the title race down to the wire.
