Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City have the chance to make it to their first-ever Super Cup final

The semifinal of the Kalinga Super Cup will kick off today with both games scheduled to be played one after the other. The game between Mumbai City FC and Jamshedpur FC will in particular be interesting as both clubs made it to the playoffs of the 2024-25 Indian Super League season.

Seeking redemption and aiming to add to their trophy collection, Mumbai City seem to have found their mojo in the Super Cup. The Islanders beat Chennaiyin FC 4-0 in the round of 16 stage before beating Inter Kashi 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

Jamshedpur FC on the other hand beat Hyderabad FC 2-0 in the round of 16 and then knocked out NorthEast United on penalties in the quarterfinals.

Mumbai City vs Jamshedpur FC: What to expect?

If you consider the 2024-25 ISL season, Mumbai City were the team that had the most possession in the league. Jamshedpur FC on the other hand had the least possession and relied more on counter attacks and interceptions to get their goals.

Defensively, both Mumbai City and Jamshedpur FC are yet to concede a goal in their two Super Cup games respectively. Hence, we can expect both defenses to be at the top of their game going into this match once again.

Attacking wise, MCFC’s biggest threat would be Lallianzuala Chhangte, who has scored 3 goals in the tournament so far. Jamshedpur FC on the other hand will rely on the services of Javi Hernandez to get on the scoresheet.

This will be the first time both these clubs will be facing each other in the Kalinga Super Cup with a berth to the final in sight for both the former ISL Shield winners.

The Kalinga Super Cup semi-final match between Mumbai City FC and Jamshedpur FC will be played on 30th April 2025 (Wednesday). The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar is set to host the match and the game will kick-off at 8:00 pm IST.
