The Indian U17 team thumped Chinese Taipei in their second game of the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers. The Blue Colts routed the opposition with a 3-1 score line at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. With this win, India have earned their first three points in the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The Blue Colts have moved up to the second position on the points table in Group D. After two matches, Bibiano’s boys have four points and are level with Iran. India capitalise on opportunities

What hurt India the most in the first game against Palestine was the lack of sharpness in front of the goals. Bibiano’s team forged potent attacks against Palestine but failed to convert most of those chances. However, that was not the case against Chinese Taipei.

The Blue Colts were determined to make amends for the loopholes they encountered in the first game. India were the dominant force, consistently creating attacks to trouble the opposition’s defense. But the Blue Colts were not only restricted to creating attacks. They also took them to their conclusion and scored three goals to register their first win.

Dallalmuon Gangte announces himself

On a night glittered by goals, Dallamuon Gangte was the shining star for India. The captain took the responsibility upon himself to bring the hosts back into the game after conceding an early goal. Gangte’s hat-trick carried the Blue Colts to a famous win at a time when they craved for it the most.

India’s skipper was the main man in the midfield for the hosts. The Blue Colts created chances through the wings against Palestine, but the creativity in the central channel was missing. Gangte played a monumental role in making his team a force to be reckoned with in the centre of the park. His combination with wide players worked wonders, producing moments of brilliance.

Bibiano’s boys followed his mantra

Against Palestine, India conceded a late equalizer and the lacked the temperament to withstand the relentless pressure from the opposition. The youngsters crumbled in the first match but against Chinese Taipei it was a show of grit from them.

Before the match, Bibiano Ferdandes had said that he wanted his boys to stay patient and sharp. The coach laid emphasis on the mental aspect of the game, and his boys acted upon it. The hosts were shocked by Chinese Taipei as they scored the opener in the third minute. But the Blue Colts grinded and made a resounding comeback in the second half to snatch three points.
