India and Hong Kong are placed in group C for AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers round 3.

After a disappointing outing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Indian national team will shift their focus to the upcoming 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualification – third round. This will be Manolo Marquez’s most high-profile assignment since taking over the reins as the head coach of the Blue Tigers and he will be keen to make this count.

Following today’s draw, the Blue Tigers have been drawn alongside Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangladesh in Group C of the qualifiers. The matches are scheduled to be played between 2025-26. The Blue Tigers will begin their preparations in March 2025 following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Manolo Marquez’s men will play all three teams in a round-robin format starting from early next year. The qualifiers will witness 24 teams being divided into six groups of four teams each and the winner of the group will secure a direct qualification to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. India topped their group during the last qualifiers under the tutelage of Igor Stimac.

It’s been a forgetful year for the Blue Tigers in almost every aspect of the game. They failed to win a single game throughout the year in eleven outings.

The last time the Blue Tigers won a game was back in November 2022 and the winless run now feels like a never-ending tale. The players will be keen to put this year behind their backs and put together a series of strong performances in 2025.
