The Indian women’s football team surely benefited from the two international friendlies.
The Indian Women’s National Team faced West Asian country Uzbekistan recently in two friendly matches and got mixed-bag results in these friendlies in the first match they lost (3-0) and in the second match, they finished the match in a stalemate (0-0).
Earlier this year, the Blue Tigresses had finished runners-up in the Turkish Women’s Cup, behind Kosovo, in a Quadrangular tournament that also featured Estonia and Hong Kong.
These friendlies were very important to know the current level of the senior women’s team and surely it has helped a lot to the current players and the head coach to know more about each other.
Match Results
In the first friendly match, the Blue Tigresses suffered a humiliating defeat, losing 3-0 to the host team. All the goals were conceded in the second half only, After a goalless first half, striker Khabibulaeva Deora struck a hat-trick to notch up a comfortable victory for the hosts.
In an evenly contested first half, the Blue Tigress’s defense displayed fortitude and strong physicality to ensure that the Uzbekistan strikers did not have much to work with around the box. A lot of individual mistakes from the away team cost them this first match.
In the second match, the Blue Tigresses were much better tactically and were a lot more disciplined in the defense, the women’s team is currently coached by Chaoba Devi, and even though the Indian team were not able to get a win against a tough Uzbekistan team they showed a lot of improvement in the second game against the same opposition.
Improvement in Rankings
Currently, the Women’s national team is ranked 66th in the FIFA Ranking, but this ranking was last updated in March, so after a loss and draw against an Upper-rank team where Uzbekistan are ranked 48th currently, the Blue Tigresses can expect to move up in the ranking.
Even though they didn’t get the win a draw will get the Blue Tigresses some points to move up in the rankings.
How will these friendlies help the National Team?
The Women’s team played their friendly match against Uzbekistan after three months and they played some decent football away from home. In their last International tour in Turkey, they got some positive results but in Tashkent, they were not able to get a win.
But overall the Women’s team needs to improve tactically as against Uzbekistan some players were not up to the mark. These friendlies surely helped the Blue Tigresses to gain some confidence and also showed them what are they lacking as a team.
