In a closely contested encounter at Jakarta, India U23 football team were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against a confident Indonesia U23 side, despite taking the lead early in the second half after dominating the game for the first twenty minutes.
Korou Singh broke the deadlock in the second half as India took the lead in the early minutes of the first half. As the match continued and pressure built, Indonesia found their moment through Dony Tri, who capitalised on the set piece.
Despite ending in a draw, this game showed the true potential of the Blue Colts under Naushad Moosa who dominated the game confidently against a tough opponent like Indonesia.
India U23 Player Ratings
Dipesh Chauhan (GK) – 7/10
Dipesh wasn’t tested as frequently as his Indonesian counterpart, but when needed, he delivered. He pulled off a couple of brilliant saves to stay in the lead, especially one reflex stop in the first half. He slightly struggled with his ball distribution under pressure, but overall a strong performance. He will be gutted not to have saved the equaliser through the free kick.
Muhammed Saheef – 6.5/10
Saheef had a tough night. He looked shaky from the beginning as he seemed unsure in 1v1 situations and frequently gave away possession in key areas. He also struggled to keep up with Indonesia’s pace and pressing. He was subbed off at halftime despite being involved in the attacking play.
Sumit Sharma – 6.5/10
Received an unnecessary yellow at the 69th minute. Sumit Sharma held his composure and defensive discipline. Whether it was blocking off the attackers or stepping in for the interceptions, his positioning was good but struggled with a little fitness. His one-on-one defending was solid. Was subbed off at the 78th minute.
Ricky Meetei – 8/10
Ricky may not have produced goals or asists, but his contribution was constant and crucial. From the moment he came on, he was tracking back, pressing the ball, dropping into defensive gaps. Whether it was making second-ball recoveries or simply being available for a quick release pass, Ricky Meetei played incredibly well.
Bikash Yumnam – 6.5/10
Bikash led by example especially in the first half, when India were under early pressure especially in the first 20 minutes and needed someone to step up. As the captain, Bikash was a calm presence in the backline, organising players around him, keeping the line in shape, and making several key clearances and tackles. His body positioning in 1v1 duels was good but he needed to make the passes
Ayush Chhetri – 7.5/10

A quietly effective shift in the middle of the park. Ayush brought control, smart positioning, and a steady pair of feet in the midfield. He won possession and was constantly scanning for better passing options.
Lalrinliana Hnamte – 7/10

Hnamte settled into the rhythm of the game and often found himself playing cautiously. He struggled to impose himself in midfield both in possession and off the ball. Defensively, he was caught flat-footed on a few occasions and ended up chasing shadows in transitions. Received a yellow in the 35th minute
Mohammed Aimen – 7/10
Aimen was one of India’s more attack-minded players on the night, and his intent to score was clear from the start. He made a few sharp runs into the final third, took up decent positions, and played well throughout. He was subbed off after the first half
Vibin Mohanan – 6/10

Vibin was comfortable receiving the ball under pressure, recycling possession efficiently ,His awareness in tight spaces helped India maintain some control during key phases of the match.
Sreekuttan MS – 7/10
Sreekuttan was good with his first touch and struggled in the final third and has to work a little on his decision making. He was subbed off in the first half.
Parthib Gogoi – 6/10
Parthib was creating chances but he had to show more intent as one of the most experienced attacking players. Had some pace and tried to create chances but failed to make an impressive game.
Substitutions –
Muhammed Suhail – 7/10

Muhammed Suhail was electric today. His pace gave Indonesia trouble , especially when India looked to hit on the counter. He showed real sharpness in picking up the ball in space and driving forward with intent, but failed to get a goal
Thingujam Korou Singh – 8/10
Korou Singh was the difference-maker for the game today. It was a well-timed run shot and a clean strike that gave the Indonesian keeper no chance. But Korou’s impact didn’t end there. Not only did he create chances He also tracked back when needed, showing he’s more than just an attacking player.
Suhail Ahmad Bhat – 7/10
Suhail was a threat on the flanks. He brought energy and pace, constantly looking to get in behind the Indonesian defense constantly. He wasn’t afraid to take on his marker, and more often than not, he succeeded in pushing India into the attacking third with his directness.
Danny Meitei – 7/10
Danny Meitei replaced Vibin Mohanan at the 60th minute. Failed to convert a crucial chance at the 79th minute and find the back of the net. But Overall, had a good game as he impressed with some good corners.
Harsh Palande – 7.5/10

One of India’s most promising performers on the night. Harsh Palande quietly put in a very strong shift as he came on after the first half. His positioning was perfect, allowing him to intercept passes or slow down play without needing to make any unnecessary mistakes.
Priyansh Dubey – 6/10
Came in the 78th minute replacing Dipesh Chauhan and fumbled as soon as he comes in and committed a grave error that almost led to the Blue Colts conceding another goal.
Sanatomba Singh – 7/10
Came in the 78th minute and had some good first touches and played his role well.
Roshan Singh – 6/10
