Mauritius squad for Intercontinental Cup 2024 in India
Les Dodos have announced a well-organised roster for the tournament.
It’s time for the fourth edition of the famous Intercontinental Cup. The Indian national football team will be locking horns with Mauritius and Syria at the iconic GMC Balayogi Stadium from September 3, 2024, to find the winners of the competition this time.
The Blue Tigers, under the new head Manolo Marquez, would be looking to lay the foundation stone of a new team, where everything needs to be built from scratch. It will be the first tournament for team India after Igor Stimac’s exit. Replacing a coach who has guided India since 2019 is going to be no easy job and this campaign will be the first indication of how life under Manolo is going to be for the Blue Tigers.
The start to this evolution will begin with a match against Mauritius at the Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad. Mauritius national football team, nicknamed Les Dodos are currently ranked 179 at the FIFA World Rankings, much lower than hosts India (124). Mauritius are currently coached by former French footballer Guillaume Moullec, and captained by goalkeeper Kevin Jean-Louis.
Now, before the defending champions India and Mauritius kick-start the campaign, let’s have a look at the previous encounter(s).
