India vs Uruguay: Full lineups confirmed as Ryan Williams starts in international friendly
VYBK Stadium, Kolkata hosts the high-stakes international friendly between India & Uruguay.
The stage is set as India are ready to take on the two-time FIFA World Cup champions Uruguay in an international friendly at the VYBK Stadium in Kolkata tonight.
The Blue Tigers head into this game with confidence of playing against higher ranked opponents after putting a spirited performance against Panama and Brazil. Against FIFA World Cup 2026 participants, Panama, the Blue Tigers showed resilience and fighting spirit to get a 1-1 draw courtesy of a goal from Ryan Williams.
Even against the five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil, they played a positive brand of football despite the result not going in their favour. Against Uruguay, they will hope to build on the positive performances from the previous games and put a strong showing against La Celeste.
Uruguay are also on a transition right now. La Celeste are now under their new head coach Diego Forlan, who took over after Bielsa was sacked following the FIFA World Cup 2026 elimination. They arrive to face India after playing two friendlies in Asia, winning one and losing one, and have been training in Kolkata for more than four days now.
The visitors will look to field a comparatively new lineup but will still put a huge challenge against the Blue Tigers.
