Chennaiyin FC and East Bengal have a balanced head-to-head record
With just over a month remaining in the 2025-26 Indian Super League season, the table is opening up between the title and the relegation contenders.
Mumbai City, Jamshedpur FC, Mohun Bagan SG, and Bengaluru FC are trading blows for the top spot. On the other end, Kerala Blasters and Mohammedan SC are still searching for their first win of the season.
East Bengal FC are another club that is a contender for the title. Their 7-0 win against Mohammedan SC clearly showed their intent.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC are still getting used to life under Clifford Miranda. The Marina Machans have won one of their six league games and have just scored four goals.
Both sides have different tasks at hand ahead of their encounter on Saturday. But who will reign supreme?
A tight historical clash

East Bengal arrived in the ISL back in 2020 alongside Mohun Bagan. The first four games between Chennaiyin FC and the Kolkata-based teams were behind closed doors in Goa due to the COVID pandemic. All of these league games ended in draws as both teams gave their all on the pitch.
Post the pandemic, Chennaiyin FC dealt the first blow in the history of this fixture as they beat the red and gold brigade, home and away, in the 2022-23 season.
The Torch Bearers regained their ground in 2023-24 as they picked up four points against the Marina Machans.
Last season, East Bengal pipped Chennaiyin FC 2-0 at the Marina Arena as Jeakson Singh scored a screamer. The Southern side returned the favour at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata a couple of months later as they beat Oscar Bruzon’s side 3-0 at their own home.
In this season, Chennai and East Bengal were drawn into Group A of the AIFF Super Cup. The Kolkata side humiliated CFC, beating them 4-0 in Goa as Bipin Singh starred the show with a brace.
Chennaiyin FC finished last in their group, whereas the Torch Bearers made it to the final only to lose to FC Goa on penalties.
