Chennaiyin FC gears up for a tough test against SC Delhi

Chennaiyin FC have lost back-to-back home games and have slipped down the table

The win against Kerala Blasters gave Chennaiyin FC a big boost in early March as they looked to scale up the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) table. However, the Marina Machans have since picked up just one point and have dropped down the standings.

CFC face the newsboys, Sporting Club Delhi in their next ISL fixture on Friday. The capital club is on a positive run of form and will pose a big threat against Chennaiyin, who are itching to pick up their first home win.

The Stakes

Clifford Miranda’s side have won one of their seven ISL games so far and are currently 12th in the table with 5 points. Back-to-back losses at home against Inter Kashi and East Bengal have pipped CFC’s confidence, however, they would have to regroup soon, with just six games remaining in this season.

The Marina Machans face SC Delhi and Mohammedan SC in their next two games at the Marina Arena. Ideally, picking up four to six points from these is something that they will be targeting from these two games.

Tomasz Tchorz’s Sporting Club Delhi have turned their season around. The newly formed club was struggling, having picked up just two points from their first five games. However, they have since flipped the script, having picked up wins against Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United and are now unbeaten in four league games.

SC Delhi currently sit 9th in the ISL table with 8 points from 7 league games. A win against Chennaiyin FC ahead of their four home games will boost attendance and get more eyes on the team as they look to finish as high as possible in their first season.

Injury Concerns and Team News

Chennaiyin FC – Elsinho suffered a knee injury and is out of the season. Laldinliana Renthlei is also injured and may not feature against Delhi.

SC Delhi – They don’t have any major injuries in their ranks.
