Striker issues worries Mohammedan SC Coach ahead of SC Delhi clash in ISL 2025-26

Mohammedan SC look to turn the tables at home in their second match.
Mohammedan SC began their Indian Super League season against Jamshedpur FC in the first match with a full Indian squad. But the result didn’t write up as the Black Panthers wanted, now in the second match, they will test their fortune against Manolo Marquez’ FC Goa on 20th February, 2026.
Under the guidance of Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Mohammedan SC, with less experience and without a proper striker, will play in the ISL. It is a major concern, as the coach stated in the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash.
The lack of experience and the striker void are major concerns; Mohammedan SC seek new solutions and tries to adopt a new style of play against the Gaurs.
“15 days were not enough for any team”

At the pre-match press conference, Mohammedan SC coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo highlighted many points as key. But ahead of the match against FC Goa, he challenged the short time period given by the league.
He stated, ” As I said before, 15 days were not enough for any teams in the season. We played two friendly matches against good teams, and also played the first match against Jamshedpur. The boys did well, but the result is not in our favour. There were a lot of positives we could take from the match, and many negative points also.
The match against FC Goa is tricky for us; they have got good players, and they have got a good coach. We believe in our project, they are doing very well, and they have desired to win the games. No doubt what the boys put their best.”
Fan support will be the key for Mohammedan

Fans across the world units football with glory. In the pre-match press conference of Mohammedan SC, Wadoo highlighted the point regarding the support from the fans they needed this season, as they come with a full Indian squad in the ISL. Many uncertainties regarding Stadiums, but he said that Kishore Bharati is their home stadium, and he also believed that the supporters will come to support them in their hard times.
” We have been playing at Kishore Bharati for the last many years. I have seen many supporters come to support us. We have a good fan base; it’s our home. We need the support from our fans as these young players are playing their hearts out.”
Striker void worries Mehrajuddin
Mohammedan SC coach has openly acknowledged a major concern with his quote ahead of their upcoming fixture against FC Goa in their home stadium. He admitted that the team currently lacked a good number 9 who can score goals from the back of the net. In the last match, many chances were missed by the Black Panthers as they lack a proper striker in the final third who can score the important goals for them.
He stated, ” We have agreed on one thing, we have less experience in the team. We have players without any ISL experience. They have got potential also, as the games will go on, we have the players who can grow with time. At the end of the day, you need to have a striker in the team, which we don’t have right now. So we are lacking in a very crucial position. So, just to try to work out. Next match, we try to use different options.”
He also stated,” The improvements have to be in the final thirds. When you don’t get goals, don’t create chances, it would be difficult to end with a positive result. In our last match away from home, we had players who were new in the ISL, who were very nervous at the same time. As the games go, we will make sure to get more good games. Players are confident. Defensive work also needs to improve. In the next match, we need to protect the goal, in the same time, when we need to score a goal, we have to do it.”
“Big opportunity without foreign players”: Amarjit Kiyam

Foreign players are one of the most important key figures who guided a good amount of quality into the ISL. But as things stand, Mohammedan didn’t add any foreigners to their squad for this season. Amarjit Singh Kiyam, the Mohammedan midfielder, believes it is an opportunity for the Indian players to establish themselves in the Indian Football circuit.
He stated, “As of now, we have many new players in the team. As senior players, Bora, Adinga and the experienced players cooperate with new players. We like to support them; they are very good. This is a big opportunity for us, as we don’t have any foreign players. We have to prove it as Indian players. It is a positive for us.”
