Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United FC played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 at the Mumbai Football Arena. Goals from Jithin MS and Lallianzuala Chhangte ensured both sides settled for a point after an intense 90-minute contest.

NorthEast took the lead through Jithin before Chhangte’s late strike rescued a valuable result for the Islanders in front of their home supporters.

Mumbai City FC looked dominant going forward in the opening half, launching wave after wave of attacks towards NorthEast United’s goal. The Islanders controlled possession and dictated the tempo, constantly testing the opposition’s defensive structure.

Lallianzuala Chhangte produced a breathtaking effort, forcing an excellent save from Gurmeet Singh to keep the scores level.

NorthEast United, meanwhile, threatened only in patches but nearly broke the deadlock just before halftime with a promising move that came close to finding the back of the net.

Despite Mumbai’s attacking dominance and chances at both ends, neither side could find the breakthrough as the first half ended 0–0.

NorthEast United FC struck early after the break as Jithin MS finished smartly from a tight angle in the 48th minute, following Andy Rodríguez’s dangerous free-kick delivery. The Highlanders pushed for a second, but Samte and Rodríguez failed to hit the target.

Mumbai City FC gradually grew into the game, and their pressure paid off in the 84th minute. Jorge Pereyra Díaz’s shot was parried by Gurmeet Singh, and Lallianzuala Chhangte reacted quickest to head home the rebound and make it 1-1.

Both sides searched for a late winner, but neither could find the breakthrough as the points were shared at the Mumbai Football Arena.
