ISL 2025-26: Owen Coyle praises discipline and courage as his ten-men Jamshedpur FC side secures gritty win

Jamshedpur FC went a man down in just 19 minutes
Jamshedpur FC overcame a major setback to secure a hard-fought victory against Inter Kashi in the Indian Super League. The match turned difficult early on when Vincy Baretto was shown a direct red card in the 19th minute, leaving Owen Coyle’s men to play the majority of the game with ten players.
Despite the disadvantage, the Red Miners displayed immense discipline, courage, and determination to see out the result.
Antonio López Habas’ Inter Kashi pushed hard for an equalizer and came agonisingly close in the dying minutes when Nischal Chandan’s header struck the post.
However, Jamshedpur held firm, with goalkeeper Albino producing crucial saves to preserve the lead and secure the Red Miners’ third clean sheet.
Owen feels that Jamshedpur were the best side throughout 90 minutes

Jamshedpur registered their fourth consecutive win against Inter Kashi, the reigning I-League champions, who were coming undefeated in their first three games.
Stephen Eze found the back of the net with his powerful header in the 57th minute, and that was enough to seal all three points for the Red Miners.
“Hard fought but truly deserved all three points. Inter Kashi were always going to be dangerous. Even with ten men, we were terrific throughout a span of over seventy minutes. There should not be any arguments on who was the better team tonight, and Albino made a great save in the top corner to keep the clean sheet.”
Coyle praised his team for playing 70 minutes with ten men

It is never easy when a team goes a man down with more than three-quarters of the match remaining. But Owen Coyle’s men showed massive courage and determination. Some crucial saves from Albino, brilliant crosses from Sanan to that header from Eze that broke the deadlock, Jamshedpur did the unthinkable.
“That puts a strong message that even with ten men, we can be focused, we can score goals, and we can go on to win matches as well. That was an outstanding and disciplined performance. We have shown that quality and massive credit go to my boys.”
Owen thanked the crowd for rallying behind the team

Coyle felt that the fans constantly kept cheering and supporting the team, and that was a big catalyst for the players, who went on to deliver a stellar performance.
Despite uncertain times in Indian football, the fans in the Steel City show up with the same passion and enthusiasm on every matchday at the Furnace.
“The fans were really behind us from the start. Huge shout-out to the fans. We were playing with ten men, and the fans in the stands were cheering us throughout, which kept us motivated.”
Owen feels that Vincy’s red card was unfortunate
Vincy was sent off in just 19 minutes after a flying challenge from the Goan clashed with Sandeep Mandi, and the referee wasted no time in showing a direct red card to Vincy.
Owen feels that the red card was unfortunate and Vincy had no malicious intent behind that act.
“There was no bad or malicious intention by Vincy while committing to the ball as high. I think it will be checked. But I am really proud of how my boys stood for each other and kept the team composed and united to clinch all three points from this game.”
