ISL matchweek 2 sees top Indian stars shine with their standout performances
The 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) finally kicked off its proceedings after a long delay, but it’s better late than never. We are done and dusted with the second matchweek, and Khel Now is back with another analysis of the Indian football team players. This time, the names of top ten Indian players from matchweek 2 have been listed below.
This report has been prepared based on the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 Matchweek 2 to keep a track of the players’ performance while keeping an eye on the upcoming international assignments.
The top ten players of this week are:
Hrithik Tiwari – 8/10 (vs Mohammedan SC)

Hritik Tiwari put in a brilliant performance in between the sticks and helped FC Goa pull off a win away from home while keeping a clean sheet. Tiwari anticipated the moves of the opposition strikers and made five saves in the process, including three saves from inside the box. He also recorded two high claims.
Aakash Sangwan – 8/10 (vs Mohammedan SC)

Aakash Sangwan was one of the best players for FC Goa in their thumping win over Mohammedan SC away from home. Sangwan made eleven ball recoveries along with two clearances and four tackles.
He executed 47/57 passes to perfection, including a key pass and also made overlapping runs to help out his teammates up front.
Edmund Lalrindika – 8/10 (vs SC Delhi)

It took just seven minutes for Edmund Lalrindika to score his first goal of the 2025-26 ISL season. He scored a brilliant wonder goal and found the back of the net to bring the game back on level terms. Edmund executed a picture-perfect long ranger from outside the box and the keeper had no answer to it.
He maintained a passing accuracy of 90% while executing three key passes.
Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia – 8/10 (vs Bengaluru FC)

Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia announced his arrival in the Indian topflight with a top-quality debut goal against India’s best goalkeeper. The forward came off the bench and scored a wonder goal to rescue a point for his side against Bengaluru FC away from home.
He judged the flight of the ball and took a delicious first touch before executing his shot to perfection.
Chhangte – 7/10 (vs Kerala Blasters FC)

Mumbai City FC’s captain opened his goalscoring account with a close-range goal against the Kerala Blasters in Kochi. Lalnuntluanga’s deflected attempt fell in front of Chhangte who made no mistake in putting it past the keeper. The skipper attempted two shots on target while maintaining a passing accuracy of 88%.
Ashique Kuruniyan – 7/10 (vs NorthEast United FC)

Ashique Kuruniyan had a busy outing for Bengaluru FC against NorthEast United. He executed three key passes while completing nearly 80% of his passes. Kuruniyan set up Braian Sánchez for the opening goal early in the first half.
He did not just stop there and kept on causing problems for the Highlanders all throughout the game with his unmatched pace and trickery.
Anirudh Thapa – 7/10 (vs Chennaiyin FC)

Anirudh Thapa continues to impress with his heroics in the middle of the park. Thapa racked up another assist as Mohun Bagan SG registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Chennaiyin FC. He is now the leading assist provider in the league with two assists to his name.
Thapa split Chennaiyin FC’s backline into two halves with a line breaking pass and set up Jamie Maclaren for the opening goal.
Apuia – 7/10 (vs Chennaiyin FC)

Anirudh Thapa’s midfield partner Apuia has also been one of the top performers in the league this week. Apuia completed 99 passes with an accuracy 96% while making seven ball recoveries.
He won four ground duels and completed one tackle and interception each. The young gun was all over the place for Mohun Bagan SG and controlled the tempo of the game.
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu – 8/10 (vs NorthEast United FC)

Although Gurpreet Singh Sandhu couldn’t manage to achieve a clean sheet at home, he was brilliant under the bar. Sandhu denied NorthEast United five times and made three saves from inside the box. His passing precision stood at 83% and he also made four ball recoveries in the process.
He was the reason why the Highlanders could not take away three points from Bengaluru.
Vincy Barretto – 7/10 (vs Punjab FC)

Vincy Barretto forced his head coach Owen Coyle to rethink his decision of not giving him a start against Punjab FC with a match winning goal. He came off the bench and turned the game on its head helping the Red Miners secure their second win in the competition.
Arshdeep Singh’s punch out fell to Barretto who got a touch on the ball and found the back of the net.
