ISL 2025-26: Top 10 Indian players from Matchweek 9

ISL Matchweek 10 is all set to start with Kerala Blasters FC vs Odisha
The Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 is almost approaching its business end of the season. We are done and dusted with the ninth matchweek and Khel Now is back with another analysis of the Indian players featuring in the league.
This report has been prepared based on the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 Matchweek 9 to keep a track of the players’ performance while keeping an eye on the upcoming international assignments.
The top ten players of this week are:
Mohammad Nawaz – 8/10

Mohammad Nawaz was the best goalkeeper this week. He made five saves across two games and managed to keep a clean sheet in both the games.
Nawaz made three saves from inside the box and also registered 18 recoveries across the two games. He maintained a passing accuracy of 95% in the last game and earned four points for his side with his heroics under the bar.
Hira Mondal – 8/10

Hira Mondal is also among the players who stood out for their performances this week. He looked in great touch during Mohammedan’s clash against Odisha FC.
Mondal made eight defensive contributions, including four clearances, three tackles and one interception. Hira created two big chances and registered one assist in the process.
Muhammed Nemil – 8/10

Nemil came up with his best ever ISL performance till date for FC Goa against league leaders Mumbai City FC. The player looked in great shape and troubled the opposition defenders with his moves up front.
Nemil registered four shots, including three shots on target. Interestingly, all shots were from outside the box and he found the back of the net with a shot that he had hit from the longest distance.
Mehtab Singh – 8/10

Mehtab Singh stood tall in the heart of Mohun Bagan SG’s backline and soaked in all the pressure that the opposition forwards brought into the game.
Mehtab made 12 defensive contributions across 90 minutes and helped his side get three massive points in Guwahati. He won all of his ground duels and made seven clearances, including a crucial clearance off the line.
Nihal Sudeesh – 8/10

Nihal was a livewire on the right flank for Kerala Blasters. He infused his pace into the game and troubled Jamshedpur FC’s defenders on multiple occasions.
His excellent dribbling and match reading abilities came in very handy for the Blasters. Moreover, he found the back of the net with just 12 minutes on the clock through a perfectly placed header.
Ayush Dev Chhetri – 8/10

Ayush stood tall in the middle of the park for FC Goa and controlled the tempo of the game with perfection. Chhetri 82% of his passes and also racked up an assist in the process through a key pass.
He also came back to help out his defenders at the back and racked up six defensive contributions, including two clearances and blocks each along with four ball recoveries.
VP Suhair – 7.5/10

Suhair emerged as Odisha FC’s savior in the last game. He scored a goal and earned a crucial point for his side against Mohammedan SC in Bhubaneswar.
Suhair 82% of his passes and made a couple of ball recoveries as well. The fact that he had five touches in the opposition box speaks volume about his positioning and game awareness.
Asheer Akhtar – 7.5/10

Although NorthEast United lost against Mohun Bagan SG this week, Asheer Akhtar’s performance deserves a mention.
Asheer led the team like a true leader in the absence of skipper Michel Zabaco. He made 17 defensive contributions, the most by any player this week.
Akhtar stood like a wall against the Mariners and recorded ten clearances, six recoveries and one interception.
Anwar Ali – 7/10

Anwar Ali has been one of the most consistent Indian players in the league this season. He has put in a lot of good performances and has been a driving force behind East Bengal’s performance this season.
Ali made nine defensive contributions, including six clearances, two blocks and one clearance. He also scored a goal for his side.
Ashique Kuruniyan – 7/10

Ashique Kuruniyan was among the goals for Bengaluru FC yet again. The player broke the deadlock for the Blues against East Bengal in Kolkata and put up a brilliant performance up front.
Kuruniyan now has three goals and an assist to his name this season and is already one of the top performing Indian players.
