ISL 2025-26: Top 10 Indian players with most goals scored

Anwar Ali is the highest scoring defender in ISL 2025-26 with three goals so far.

With a decline in quality as well as the number of foreign players, the general standard of the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season has been very low when compared to prior editions of the league.

We no longer witness individual brilliance and offensive flair from foreign players, which leads to clubs playing dull direct football rather than focusing on build-up and patterns of play.

However, the decline in the number of foreigners owing to the club’s financial difficulties has increased the necessity for Indian footballers, particularly strikers and offensive midfielders, to be given greater opportunities in the attack and to be the focal point of attack for their teams.

While experienced veteran Chhangte continues to top the rankings for the most goals scored by an Indian player in the 2025-26 ISL, a number of young players, like Joseph Sunny, Noufal, and Edmund, have stepped up for their respective clubs and scored goals.

Here are the top ten Indian players who have scored the most number of goals in the 2025-26 ISL season.

Lallianzuala Chhangte – 4 goals

The captain of Mumbai City FC has been among the goals, as he has been for the past several seasons. With Diaz and Ortiz frequently injured, Chhangte has stepped up to score four goals this season.

All four of his goals have been winners or equalizers, earning his team ten of the 18 points they have won this ISL season.

Joseph Sunny – 3 goals

The Sporting Club Delhi winger has been on fire this ISL season, with three goals and an assist, including a brace against NorthEast United.

More than the goals, the quality of Joseph Sunny’s finishing has been pretty spectacular, with poacher-like finishes.

Noufal PN – 3 goals

After failing to score throughout the previous season, Noufal improved his ability to finish and has since been able to convert his opportunities in the final third.

He scored in three successive games, namely against SC Delhi, Mohun Bagan SG, and Inter Kashi. His goal against the Mariners provided his team a crucial three points in the 2025-26 ISL title race.

Edmund Lalrindika – 3 goals

Making the jump from the I-League to the ISL, the East Bengal attacker has been quite impressive this season.

Edmund has been his club’s most prolific Indian forward since the opening match against NorthEast United, netting three goals and assisting twice in eight games this season.

Anwar Ali – 3 goals

Anwar Ali, although being a defender on paper, has undoubtedly been more than just that for his team on the field. Apart from his outstanding defensive abilities, Anwar has been one of East Bengal’s key threats in attacking set-pieces, with long-range shots, headed goals, and acrobatic finishes.

He has three goals and one assist to his name this season.

Ashique Kuruniyan – 3 goals

Ashique, who joined Bengaluru FC at the start of the season, appears to have regained his goal-scoring groove after struggling to play and score consistently in previous season.

With four goal contributions, the winger appears to be regaining his previous form, and he has played an important role in Bengaluru’s attacking success this season.

Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia – 2 goals

After scoring 12 goals in the 2024-25 I-League season, Lalbiaknia made a step-up to the ISL and chose NorthEast United FC over other teams to gain more playing time and show himself. And he has done just that, racking up four goal contributions (2 goals and 2 assists).

He established his presence known with a spectacular volley against Gurpreet and recently struck against the Blasters.

Nandhakumar Sekar – 2 goals

Nandhakumar Sekar has continued to build his impact at East Bengal FC in the ongoing ISL campaign. With 2 goals in 6 appearances so far, he has shown flashes of his attacking quality and ability to influence games in crucial moments.

His sharp movement and eye for goal added a new dimension to East Bengal’s frontline.

Rahul KP – 2 goals

In a season where Odisha FC have decided to go with no foreigners in the attack, it was important for Indian forwards like Rahul KP, Rahim Ali and Isak to step up and perform.

While Isak has struggled, Rahul KP and Rahim Ali have stepped up with goals and assists. Rahul KP scored a brace against NorthEast United, which helped Odisha register their only win of the season.

Irfan Yadwad – 2 goals

Irfan Yadwad, who has been one of the most outstanding forwards in the ISL since the beginning of last season, has maintained his excellent form this season, netting two goals.

Both of his goals were excellent finishes, playing through the middle and leading the line. If Clifford begins utilizing him more as a number 9 rather than on the flanks, Irfan will score more goals and help Chennaiyin win more games.
