Super Saturday’s first game produced a nailbiting ISL 2026-27 encounter between Odisha FC and Inter Kashi at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. The first half was a silent affair as both teams failed to open the scoring, but the second half came up with 45 minutes filled with entertainment. Odisha FC broke the deadlock courtesy of a forced own goal.
Inter Kashi kept on trying for an equalizer before eventually bringing the score back on level terms right at the end. While Odisha FC will be disappointed with their performance, Inter Kashi can pat themselves on their backs for their resilient fighting spirit.
Let us take a look at the key takeaways from the game.

Inter Kashi gave away a lot of fouls across both the halves which resulted in multiple dead ball situations for Odisha FC. The Juggernauts continued to pile up the pressure on Inter Kashi with back-to-back setpieces and eventually scored through a corner, thanks to an own goal by Pratik Chaudhari which was forced by a towering header from Stephen Eze.
The hosts’ inability to keep their challenges in check and neutralise the danger caused by setpieces almost resulted in a defeat for them. They were not disciplined enough and failed to manage the game intelligently on a lot of occasions which opened up spaces for Odisha FC to attack. They would have conceded a lot of goals had it been a quality attacking unit capable of exploiting their shortcomings.

Odisha FC only have themselves to blame for this draw. It is not a point gained, but two points dropped for them. They had so many chances to score another goal, but they failed every time.
They did everything right only to lose the ball at the end. T.G Purushothaman’s side ticked all the boxes.
They were brilliant in the build up, opened up spaces with their edge cutting passes and even troubled the defenders with their pace and trickery, but missed the final product on every occasion except for one when the ball went past the keeper. Odisha FC allowed Inter Kashi to remain in the contest with their missed chances and gave them multiple lifelines which eventually came back to haunt them at the very end.

Inter Kashi were down and out for the majority of the game and it seemed as if they were going to go empty handed out of this game, but their substitutions in the second half emerged impactful. They got their changes spot on and eventually pulled out a crucial point out of this game which will do the world of good in boasting the morale and confidence of the players.
Their resilience and hard work finally paid off when Huidrom Thoi Singh unleashed a first time left footed screamer to restore parity for the home side in the 89th minute. Ayush Chikara, Aritra Das and even Aphaoba Singh played a major role in forcing the equaliser by Inter Kashi.
