The Islanders are yet to register a win in ISL 2026-27.
Mumbai City FC will take on Sporting Club Delhi in Matchweek 4 of Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 on November 1 at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai. The Mumbai Football Arena will host their first home game of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season when the Islanders welcome the Capital club, SC Delhi.
Both the sides are yet to register a win in the league and have struggled so far, with SC Delhi being on 1 point and Mumbai City at 2 points. This clash holds immense value for both the sides and will have some very interesting key battles.
In this article, we will take a look at the key player battles from the match between Mumbai City and SC Delhi.
Sergio Llamas vs Lalrinliana Hnamte
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
The Mumbai City FC vs SC Delhi battle is most likely to be determined by the midfield quality in the match, with Sergio Llamas and Lalrinliana Hnamte expected to play important roles for their respective sides.
Hnamte has already made a brilliant individual start to life in SC Delhi after joining them from Chennaiyin FC earlier this season.
The 23-year-old midfielder has already scored and assisted for SC Delhi in their first three Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 games and also had a very good Durand Cup 2026 campaign getting his name on the scoresheet multiple times. He has been a key part of the SC Delhi midfield and is also an attacking threat for the oppositions. This is where Sergio Llamas comes into play for Mumbai City FC.
Standing against Hnamte will be the Spanish midfielder Sergio Llamas, who joined Mumbai City FC ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season. Llamas brings immense experience of playing in Spain and has also spent some good amount of time in Indian football and understands the way it works. The 33-year-old has already become a leader for the Islanders and has a goal to his name in ISL 2026-27.
While Hnamte offers energy and goal scoring threat, Llamas brings a sense of technical control in the midfield along with composure on the ball. Whoever gains the upper hand in this battle could very well decide the fate of this fixture.
Lazar Cirkovic vs Rodriguinho

Another key battle that will be important to watch out in this clash is between Lazar Cirkovic and Rodriguinho.
Cirkovic brings immense experience and defensive solidity to Mumbai City FC’s backline, having perviously played for Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC in Indian Super League (ISL).
The 34-year-old Serbian centre-back has already made a very good defensive partnership with Carlos Delgado and almost got Mumbai the three points in their last game against Punjab FC. His ability to play forward passes and his physical strength adds solid quality to the Mumbai City backline.
However, he will face a stern test against the Brazilian forward Rodriguinho who has been very good for SC Delhi so far. The Brazilian made a remarkable beginning to his India chapter, scoring 5 goals for SC Delhi in Durand Cup 2026 against Defenders FC where he ultimately went on to score 7 goals in the tournament.
In the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27, the forward has already scored a goal in the season opener against Bengaluru FC. His sharp movement and eye for goal makes him a dangerous presence in the final third.
So, the battle between Lazar Cirkovic and Rodriguinho could also be a decisive one in the match.
Zothanpuia vs Juan Pena
Another interesting battle to watch out in Mumbai City FC vs SC Delhi will be between the Mumbai City midfielder Zothanpuia (Puipuia) and SC Delhi’s Juan Pena.
Puipuia has already shown his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively in the midfield, with Manolo Marquez mostly using him in the double pivot in the midfield with Sergio Llamas this season. The 21-year-old has been good for the Islanders in the midfield with his energy, ball winning ability and composure on the ball. However, he will face a stern test against SC Delhi’s creative threat Juan Pena.
The 27-year-old Colombian midfielder has emerged as an important creative outlet for SC Delhi this season. Pena had a very good Durand Cup 2026 campaign where he managed to score 4 goals and provide 3 assists in 4 games and also scored in the last game against FC Goa. His ability to operate between the lines and make key final third passes makes him a threat for Mumbai City FC.
If young Puipuia manages to neutralize the ‘Pena threat’ in the midfield, he could very well block the creative outlet for SC Delhi and make things better for Mumbai City.
