AIFF issues final notice to Jamshedpur FC & Inter Kashi over unpaid ISL participation fee

Federation imposes ₹1 lakh-per-day default charge and gives clubs until July 31 to clear first instalment.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) has issued a final notice to Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi, after both clubs failed to pay the first instalment of the administrative fee required for participation in the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL), Khel Now has learned.

In separate letters dated July 22, signed by AIFF Deputy Secretary General M. Satyanarayan, the federation informed both clubs that they had failed to honour the mutually agreed payment timeline and are now liable to pay a default charge of ₹1 lakh for every day of delay, effective from July 21 until the payment is received.

AIFF has directed both clubs to clear the outstanding first instalment, along with the applicable default charges, on or before July 31, describing it as the final opportunity to comply with the payment requirements.

AIFF cites breach of agreed timeline

In the communication, AIFF reminded both clubs that the administrative fee structure, payment schedule and the July 20 deadline had been discussed and accepted by all participating clubs before the start of the new club-led ISL model.

The federation stated that while it had consistently extended assistance to clubs in the larger interest of the league, unilateral departures from mutually accepted commitments placed an avoidable burden on its financial planning and administration.

According to AIFF, the payment timeline forms part of the agreed league framework and must therefore be enforced uniformly across all participating clubs.

₹1 lakh default charge for every day of delay

The letters state that both clubs are liable to pay a default charge of ₹1,00,000 per day, calculated from July 21, 2026, until the date the outstanding payment is received.

The federation has also warned that failure to clear the dues and penalties by July 31 could result in further action under the league framework and other applicable regulations.

“Failure to do so shall constrain the AIFF to take such further action as may be considered appropriate under the applicable League framework and other governing regulations, without any further notice,” the letter states.

Follows extension requests from both clubs

The development comes a day after Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi wrote to the AIFF seeking an extension to the payment deadline, citing operational issues.

Earlier, Khel Now had exclusively reported that 12 of the 14 ISL clubs had completed the first instalment of the participation fee, while the first instalments of East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Diamond Harbour FC were adjusted against pending prize money due from the AIFF.

With the federation now issuing formal notices, attention shifts to whether Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi will meet the revised July 31 deadline or face further disciplinary action.
