The Tuskers’ skipper demands full focus on securing a win from his team for their next clash against Mohammedan SC.
Adrian Luna’s Kerala Blasters are heading into their first game without coach Mikael Stahre in their dugout as they prepare to face Mohammedan FC in their next home fixture of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season. In the event of a major managerial change in the middle of the season, Blasters’ skipper Adrian Luna shares his thoughts on their chances for the remainder of the season.
Easing the pressure as a captain
Following Stahre’s departure, the Blasters’ camp is evidently under severe pressure. Adrian Luna reveals his insights on his team beating the pressure and his role as the captain in helping the cause. “As a captain, you try to have a shield in front of you, while knowing what is going on around the club. We know, as a team, that our goal is to collect as many points as we can and tomorrow is a big opportunity for us.
“We must take it. I believe the team has trained well this week. We need to have a good game tomorrow. We need to get the three points and start building on it.”
Skipper’s role in overcoming the crisis
Luna is now called upon to shoulder his team during a time of crisis, with the coach leaving mid-season. As the leader of the group, when asked about taking his share of responsibility for leading to a situation like this and how they plan a way out of this, Adrian Luna replied, “Whatever has happened, has happened. Our focus is on the next game. There are no magical solutions to this. We just have to win games and try to stick together through this moment and look forward.”
Message to other players
The Uruguayan asserts on staying focused on the next game while sharing his message to the dressing room. Adrian Luna said, “The goal is pretty clear. As I have said, we have to start collecting points. Tomorrow is a beautiful opportunity to start doing that. We are focused on tomorrow’s game and that’s it. That’s all I can tell you.”
Message to the fans
Kerala Blasters’ massive and passionate fanbase is understandably concerned about the team’s current situation. Adrian Luna, sharing his message to the fans, stated “I can understand them and the message is that we need them. As always, we need them to understand that their support is important for the team.”
“We are giving our 100% in every single match. Sometimes, things go your way and sometimes, they don’t. However, this is not about a lack of effort or commitment. We are doing everything we can, and we need them in the stadium. I hope tomorrow we have their full support,” Adrian Luna concluded.
