Jahouh didn’t provide any reason for his departure as per the club statement

In a shocking turn of events, Odisha FC’s midfielder Anwar Jahouh has tried to severe his ties with the club. This is a massive setback for the Juggernauts as they are currently in the battle to secure a 2024-25 Indian Super League playoff berth.

What has happened between Ahmed Jahouh and Odisha FC?

Odisha FC put up a statement on social media on Saturday that read, “Ahmed Jahouh has unilaterally left the club without providing any reason or information to the club. The club considers this as a serious breach of contract and is considering an appropriate action. Further details will be communicated once the due process is followed.”

Ahmed Jahouh’s last appearance for Odisha FC came against FC Goa on 6th February 2025. The Moroccan was given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards as the Gaurs beat the Juggernauts 2-1 at the Fatorda Stadium.

Following a one-game suspension in the 1-1 draw against Punjab FC, Jahouh was omitted from the squad by Sergio Lobera in the 3-1 win against Hyderabad FC. The red card against FC Goa was the third sending-off that Jahouh the midfielder had received in this ISL season.

Following a red card in one of the earlier fixtures the Odisha FC manager was quoted saying, “The most important thing is the squad but the situation that happened with Jahouh in the last game cannot happen. It cannot happen. When you are a professional, you need to be professional 100%”

“You know how important you are as a player for the team. We cannot miss players in stupid situations like this. I spoke with him and I am not happy with this attitude. Jahouh has experience. He needs to manage the situation better.”

While there is no confirmation why Jahouh has left Odisha FC all of a sudden, it likely seems that his latest red card could have something to do with it. It has to be seen how this situation develops in the coming days.

All about Ahmed Jahouh’s legacy in the ISL!

With 150 appearances under his belt, Ahmed Jahouh became the foreigner with the most appearances in the Indian Super League earlier this month. Before representing Odisha FC, the Moroccan has also played for the likes of FC Goa and Mumbai City FC.

Ahmed Jahouh has scored nine goals and provided 29 assists so far in the ISL. However, in terms of keeping his composure, the midfielder has lacked a bit as he has picked up 45 yellow cards and seven red cards in 150 appearances.

In terms of silverware though, Jahouh is certainly a champion by every standard. The Moroccan has won three ISL Shields and one ISL Cup, with three of his four trophies coming with Mumbai City.
