Bengaluru FC are Rahul Bheke’s former club.
The 10th edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) concluded with a spectacular grand finale in which Mumbai City FC won their second ISL title against Mohun Bagan. However, Mumbai City FC’s happiness will be short-lived because their skipper is all set to depart.
According to reports, Rahul Bheke could very well make a switch in the summer. The 33-year-old defender has reportedly signed a pre-contract with his former side Bengaluru FC that will see him return to the Blues’ camp in the upcoming season.
Rahul Bheke’s contributions for Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC were among the most dominant teams in the league this season. They excelled in every aspect of the game. Be it defending, playmaking or goal-scoring, they had all their bases covered. They were the mentality monsters of the league this season and often staged a comeback to find their way back into the game.
And leading the team from the back was skipper Rahul Bheke who stood tall and did not let anything get the better of him. Bheke was Mumbai’s titan in defence and kept things very sturdy and subtle. The Indian international is surely a hot property in Indian football, thanks to the kind of season he has had.
Rahul Bheke was more than a player for the Islanders. He is a Mumbaikar and understands and connects with the city more than anyone else can. His passion and dedication towards the club ever since joining the Islanders has been second to none.
He is one of the most experienced defenders in the league and made his 150th ISL appearance in the final against Mohun Bagan. He has scored three goals and provided two assists in 78 matches for Mumbai City FC. Bheke’s departure will surely leave a huge void for the City Football Group-owned outfit both on and off the pitch.
