Noel Wilson highlights Chennaiyin FC's situation ahead of Mohun Bagan clash

Pritam Kotal’s debut match for Chennaiyin FC will be against Mohun Bagan!
Chennaiyin FC will lock horns against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in a crucial stage of their 2024-25 Indian Super League campaign. With just eight league games remaining, the Marina Machans have to make a comeback, something that they have done in the past.
Owen Coyle’s side completed the signing of Pritam Kotal over the weekend. The former Kerala Blasters player has reportedly joined the squad in Chennai and will be in contention to play the game against Mohun Bagan.
In the absence of Owen Coyle, who is suspended for the game against Mohun Bagan, Chennaiyin FC’s assistant coach Noel Wilson and midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte addressed the pre-match press conference. Here is what the duo said:
What did Chennaiyin FC’s coach and midfielder Hnamte say about Pritam Kotal?
Chennaiyin FC completed the signing of Pritam Kotal on a two-and-a-half-year deal over the weekend. The defender was signed from the Kerala Blasters as a replacement for the outgoing Bikash Yumnam.
Talking in regards to Pritam Kotal’s arrival, CFC’s assistant coach Noel Wilson said, “Now since Bikash had a contract which meant he needed to go to Kerala, we brought in Pritam Kotal. I think Owen Coyle knows better because he is an experienced coach, so he has brought him. Hopefully, in these remaining games, I think Pritam coming in will help the team.”
Noel Wilson concluded by saying, “If you see, our attack has been very good. So it’s only the defence, so maybe with Pritam coming in, I hope that the team starts playing better and we stop conceding goals and just hope for the best in the remaining games.”
Chennaiyin FC midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte has already played under Pritam Kotal. The veteran defender was the captain of the Mohun Bagan side that won the 2022-23 ISL Cup.
Talking about the Marina Machans’ newest addition, Hnamte said, “Pritam Da is a great player. When he comes on the team, Most of the players here are under 25, so he’s going to be a huge help, especially for the young players who can look up to him.”
Hnamte concluded by saying, “The way Pritam Da talks in the game, he knows a lot. He has an impact only on the player during the game. The tone he has, he is a huge, different, experienced player. So he’ll be a good addition to the team. “
Coach’s words on Chennaiyin FC’s games ahead
With just eight games remaining in their 2024-25 ISL campaign, Chennaiyin FC know that they can not make any more mistakes. The Marina Machans are currently 10th in the standings and are seven points adrift of the playoff spots.
When asked in regards to this, CFC’s assistant coach Noel Wilson said, “See, as a coach and as officials, we do understand every game is important for us. Now to get to the top six, we still have games and nothing is impossible.”
“Because if Chennaiyin FC are on the top form, we are ready to take any team and we have already shown it. Even if you see, what we lack are the late goals that we are conceding. So if we focus on that and try to stop that, I think 100% we will get good results.”
Noel Wilson concluded by saying, “It is the duty of Owen Coyle. He is doing it by motivating the players and telling them, yes, they are the best and they have to perform that on the field. That’s it.”
