Daniel Chima Chukwu set to sign for Chennaiyin FC

Chima Chukwu has scored 23 goals in his career in India.
Chennaiyin FC, under the guidance of coach Owen Coyle, have staged an impressive comeback in the Indian Super League 2023-24 season, overcoming a shaky start to secure a spot in the playoffs. Despite the ongoing campaign, the club’s leadership is already eyeing reinforcements for the upcoming season, actively pursuing key players from other teams to strengthen their squad.
In a recent development, it has been revealed by Khel Now that PC Laldinpuia is in advanced talks with Chennaiyin FC, with the signing seemingly imminent. Now, it appears that the club are set to secure another significant addition in the form of Daniel Chima Chukwu from Jamshedpur FC.
Sources close to the negotiations have disclosed that Chukwu, a free agent for the 2024-25 season, had attracted interest from multiple clubs. However, it is understood that the allure of joining Chennaiyin FC, coupled with the influence of coach Owen Coyle, has swayed the Nigerian forward towards the Marina Machans.
Speaking on the potential signing, a source stated, “Chima had offers from several clubs, but the presence of Owen Coyle once again proved pivotal in Chennaiyin FC’s favour, as terms have been agreed with the forward.”
Chukwu’s impending arrival adds further excitement to Chennaiyin FC’s ambitions for the future, as they look to build on their resurgence under Coyle’s leadership. With a renewed focus on strengthening the squad, the Marina Machans aim to make an even stronger impact in the Indian Super League and compete at the highest level.
The signing of Daniel Chima Chukwu signals Chennaiyin FC’s intent to continue their upward trajectory in Indian football, as they strive for domestic and continental success.
