Odisha FC bow out of the ISL Shield race with a defeat against Mumbai City FC.

In a closely contested match at the Mumbai Football Arena, Odisha FC faced a narrow 2-1 defeat against Mumbai City FC on Monday shutting their doors for the Indian Super League (ISL) Shield trophy. Despite a goal from Diego Mauricio in the 25th minute, Mumbai City FC emerged victorious with goals from Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Lallianzuala Chhangte in the 22nd and 61st minutes respectively.

The Islanders were a better side throughout the game, thanks to Lallianzuala Chhangte’s heroic performance along with Jorge Pererya Diaz’s precision to have sailed their boat and have reinstated their five points lead at the summit of the ISL table.

Petr Kratky’s side will need a maximum of one point in their final fixture against Mohun Bagan Super Giant away from home should the century-old club register a win in their next fixture against Bengaluru FC. If Mohun Bagan lose any points Mumbai City FC will be awarded the Shield before the high-octane clash
